Was this after or before Wilson had his stroke and didn't tell anyone while his wife ran the country for months

Didn't Wilson "sit" after the German's sank the Lusitania?

Yes, he did. Did nothing. So Clintonesque

As Teddy Roosevelt famously observed: "Woodrow Wilson has the backbone of a chocolate eclaire"

No wonder Zulu quotes him

Nobody wants planes being bombed out of the sky. Nobody (in their right mind or without stock in some defense industry) wants war either. A reasonable amount of security is prudent but monitoring everyones e mail and phone calls on the planet is tyranny.

Ha ha ha! This is why conservatives like you are such dopes. The primary obstacle to US participation in overseas military and diplomatic affairs prior to WWI and WWII was DOPEY REPUBLICAN SMALL-TOWN PROVINCIALISTIC ISOLATIONISM! Wilson got raked for entering WWI; later, the ostrich-dope Republicans in the Senate rejected the League of Nations treaty and that was a key reason things then went to hell internationally. As late as July 1941 you dopes STILL opposed entering WWII and FDR had to occupy Iceland and in other ways try to provoke a German attack. It was only after WWII that you finally did a complete flip-flop and demanded that the world be transformed into Disneyland at gunpoint. You're always wild-eyed, mindless, unrealistic boneheads. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

Well legally/theortically none. In that as far as I know the Bill of Rights is still the law of the land. But strip searches without probable cause chips away at it.

Man are thick. "League of Nations!" Ah...ya..that worked out real well. Just like Kyoto. As you glare up on the wall to your 6th grade diploma tell us what the League of Nations did to stop Hitler or Japan

Provoke a German attack? Ah son, Japan attacked us first

League of Nations! Of that IS rich!

You probably think the UN is some hyper effective organization as Cuba runs the Human Rights Committee and Syria chairs the anti-terrorism committe

We are such dopes. That is why we keep winning elections and control everything while libs can't win dogcathers

We ain't as smart as you libs

Someday we will figure it out

That's actually a good analogy. To win elections, both had to cater to the boneheaded Republican mainstream, which in the decades prior to December 1941 was psychotically isolationist.
