Ugh, VL wasn't the highwater mark many seem to think it was. ABB is miles ahead. Miles, I say!

Agreed - very low energy level on that one.
December 15th, 2005 12:53 PM
glencar I like you, Egbert!
December 15th, 2005 12:57 PM
Voodoo Scrounge Lets not turn this into an ABB vrs the world thread.
Its going completely off topic

speedfreakjive VL is a low water mark, no shit. Although i'm finding myself appreciating Suck On The Jugular these days.

B2B is actually quite innovative, but it lacks killer tunes

Steel Wheels - I like Mixed Emotions, I Cant Be Seen.., and Slipping Away. Continental Drift is abominable!!

December 15th, 2005 12:58 PM
glencar Don't say that to Gazza!

Yeah - speaking bad about Continental Divide on this board reminds me of the scene in Lord Of The Rings where the skeleton is accidentally knocked down the mine shaft...

It seems they put some effort into that one, since neither Mick or Keith had any substantial solo projects going on at the time. I like it a lot, except for the cringe-inducing lyrics in FTS.

speedfreakjive Saint Of Me and How Can I Stop, i like particularly.
I have to mention Anybody Seen My Baby, cos listening to it now ,I cant believe Mick got the "rap" bit in the middle past Keith and onto the master copy. Its horrendous, and just NOT the Stones!!
December 15th, 2005 01:19 PM
glencar I actually like SOL more than ASMB...
December 15th, 2005 01:25 PM
speedfreakjive How Can I Stop is DEFINITELY better than This Place Is Empty!

I think that ASMB is the type of song that provides backbone to the argument that The Rolling Stones are the most inovative band in the world.

I think that the "rap" is almost the making of the tune after the guitar solo at the end.

One of my all time favourite stones tunes and very underrated
December 15th, 2005 03:24 PM
speedfreakjive I agree thats its funky and original, but the lyrics are awful and its still below average, for me.
December 15th, 2005 04:04 PM
glencar I like BTB but ASMB "Underrated"? I don't see howe that's possible...
December 15th, 2005 04:06 PM
speedfreakjive Anyone reckon there'll be a 3rd single?
If there is i'll put a small fortune on it being ONNYA
December 15th, 2005 04:07 PM
glencar ONNYA is the B-side of RFD.
December 15th, 2005 04:09 PM
speedfreakjive OK, was RJ the B-Side to SOL?
December 15th, 2005 04:11 PM
glencar Yep.
December 15th, 2005 04:11 PM
glencar LIND is next!
December 15th, 2005 04:13 PM
speedfreakjive LIND is good, but i'd prefer DTF to be the next single
December 15th, 2005 04:14 PM
glencar Uh, no. Too formulaic.
December 15th, 2005 04:18 PM
speedfreakjive Sweet Neo Con, B-Side BOMH, US only single
LOL!
December 15th, 2005 04:19 PM
glencar Bomb!
