Great news! I'm happy for all the rescheduled shows but first and foremost for the fact Keith is doing alright We should all celebrate for that!
On the other hand, I think "we've stepped on it" as a Greek proverb would say for being scr...eh, unlucky It does say at RS.com that the Athens gig is postponed and NOT cancelled, but the statement also reads:
There will be 21stadium dates in 11 countries across Europe and these shows will be all the Stones will be doing in the summer of 2006.
So where does that leave us exactly?
Thank you Jesus, thank you Cohl
Ah, nevermind. I'm just thrilled Keith's alright.
(And if anyone is willing to sell a FOS Milan ticket, I'm here babies). |

Great, they changed the date of the first Amsterdam show and 'postponed' the second show to 2007...
Fuck it.
From rs. com additionally:
All tickets purchased for previous itinerary are valid.
The Rolling Stones concerts that were originally announced to take place in Barcelona, Madrid (Spain), Brussels (Belgium), Gothenburg (Sweden), St Petersburg (Russia), Brno (Czech Republic), Warsaw (Poland), Athens (Greece), Zagreb (Croatia), and Frankfurt (Germany) are POSTPONED. Concert promoters are in the process of re-scheduling these cities and there will be news of these shortly.
They ask ticket holders to hold on to their tickets and await further announcements.
The 2006 Rolling Stones Concerts in NURNBERG & LEIPZIG are CANCELLED.
Michael Cohl, World Tour Promoter, commented "We are delighted to announce the Stones tour is back on track and thank all the fans and ticket holders for their patience. We have put in as many shows in as many countries as was feasible. This is still going to be the most incredible rock show ever."

Oh yeah, then why not put some more shows in September?
Have I mentioned my love for Michael Cohl grows by the minute? |

Probably because of bookings by football and other sports, and because of weather. |

Yeah, but the Babylon tour in 98 rolled all the way through September 18... |
|
Angiegirl |
But those dates were booked by the Stones earlier I think. Hey, I don't know, they'll have their reasons. Maybe it'll be too long of a working period for Keef or something, who knows. |

Angie, what shows are you going to make with this revised schedule?
Sorry to ALL of my European friends if your summer has been busted or changed...we yanks had it made with ALL of the dates available to us |

Surprised that no one has noticed that the Stones appear to have a busy schedule on 8th August
The Zurich show is the 5th August, in case you're wondering
Thankfully all the shows I had planned to see are safe, but its disappointing that they couldnt reschedule more than what theyve done and have pulled shows that were due to take place AFTER the new start date. I'm gutted for those of who who are missing out this year - but the silver lining is that Europe gets to see the Stones in both 2006 and 2007.
Draw your own conclusions for the main reason. I find it hard to believe they could only reschedule TWO shows in September. But hey, as long as they get to tour America in the autumn and make a shitload of cash to enable them to top the 'highest grossing' charts, thats OK....
On the bright side, thats hopefully an end to all the doom and gloom speculation about Keith's health and the whole tour being cancelled or postponed.

Well, we don't know yet that they'll tour the US in the fall, but if they do, the part of them that's making them spineless moneygrabbers might just be the only part they have. |

I know it's early here, but where are you reading additional Euro shows in 2007?? What am I missing??
Fotini....I am so so sorry.
I really hope with all my heart they make it up to those that missed out. They have to.

But how can you feel angry at this?
Love you Keith! |

I know it's early here, but where are you reading additional Euro shows in 2007?? What am I missing??
The website for St Petersburg mentioned a couple of days ago that the show was postponed to 2007 and other European shows would be affected the same way. Radio stations in Holland have also confirmed that Amsterdam #1 has been moved by one day and that Amsterdam #2 is postponed until 2007
The announcement that ten or more shows are postponed, as opposed to cancelled, is confirmation that it will be 2007 before they take place. As is the official statement that the dates confirmed today will be the Stones' only European shows this summer.
My personal guess is that aside from the shows that are rescheduled they'll do what they did in 1999 and add a few extra shows next summer in places where they've played THIS year and can easily play two years in a row - German sales should be much better next year without the World Cup as competition and I would guess there'll be a show in London. Maybe we'll get to see them at wembley after all - although I still wouldnt bet on it being finished by next summer either! |

Dutch tour promotor Mojo Concerts states it on their website (also says the postponed dates will be announced mid-July):
http://www.mojo.nl/agenda/evenement.asp?pid=734
- op zondag 30 juli is verplaatst naar maandag 31 juli;

I'm normally the eternal pessimist.
BUT..maybe there is a silver lining in all of this.
Clearly, the Stones aren't gonna hang it up in Dec. 06.
Keith is recovering....the BEST news of all.
Euro Tour has been derailed but the door is open for 2007.
RO hits Europe in 2007??? I'm UP for it!!!!!!!!!!! I'll go to Greece to see a show with Fotini.

Yeps,but no comments from stones management,about 2007?

I'm a realist however. 1 year now makes 10 times the difference on them as 1 year in 1965...
I don't see it turn out all that well honestly. |

because they havent finalised the dates for those shows yet. Theyre not in the business of speculation
The most important thing to announce was the itinerary for 2007 - which theyve done - and to confirm which of the postponed dates will and wont be rescheduled - which theyve also done.
As the rescheduled dates are a year away, rearranging exact dates for them is hardly as big a priority as rearranging new dates for shows that are due to take place in a few weeks time.

You know you're most welcome here LJ dear! Maybe an ROCC summit should be in order We're gonna have a great time!
And we should get the very best setlist for all this mayhem! This is the THIRD time the Athens gig is postponed this year
Angie, cheer up! They're tough guys, they don't give up easily. They always go on, against all odds. |
