I'm normally the eternal pessimist.

BUT..maybe there is a silver lining in all of this.

Clearly, the Stones aren't gonna hang it up in Dec. 06.

Keith is recovering....the BEST news of all.

Euro Tour has been derailed but the door is open for 2007.

RO hits Europe in 2007??? I'm UP for it!!!!!!!!!!! I'll go to Greece to see a show with Fotini.

LJ.

Count me in!!!

Great news! I'm happy for all the rescheduled shows but first and foremost for the fact Keith is doing alright We should all celebrate for that!

On the other hand, I think "we've stepped on it" as a Greek proverb would say for being scr...eh, unlucky It does say at RS.com that the Athens gig is postponed and NOT cancelled, but the statement also reads:

There will be 21stadium dates in 11 countries across Europe and these shows will be all the Stones will be doing in the summer of 2006.

So where does that leave us exactly?
Thank you Jesus, thank you Cohl

Ah, nevermind. I'm just thrilled Keith's alright.
(And if anyone is willing to sell a FOS Milan ticket, I'm here babies).

The first thing I looked for in the itinerary this morning was Athens...so sorry it's been postponed, Fotini. But it does say that these dates "will be all the Stones will be doing in the SUMMER of 2006," so it sounds like you might see them in Athens yet!

What a way to start the day! WOOHOO! KEEEEEEEF!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks It means a lot! Let's hope we'll get lucky in September or 2007... You're more than welcome to the Athens gig when it happens as well We got a summit on the way!

Just read that Barcelona has been confirmed for 2007.

I shall start saving my pennies immediately! Always wanted to go to Greece, but Greece AND the Stones AND a Summit...now there's a trifecta too good to miss!

LadyJane See.

This may all work out in our favor, after all.

Yes, exactly!

You don't know how happy I'll be if we can arrange this. I've always felt "jealous" of the gatherings RO had and I could never attend them - always hoped I would attend one sometime. But one in my own country?! It's too good!

Thank you God! Keith is well.I´m looking forward to see them in Spain or Amsterdan in 2006 or 2007
2nd June 2006 11:40 AM
Soldatti It makes sense, a mini tour now, a big break (Sep. 06/Jan-07) and a big tour in 2007, America and Europe.
2nd June 2006 12:27 PM
marko I´m actually thinkin, how badly they´ll play next year.
Few days ago,i watched the super bowl, its awful, just awful.
Both,ronnie&keith played wrong tempo,specially during
satisfaction.I´m not really satisfied what they do now.
I think,large tour next year,,,doesn´t sound good.
Musically, they bore shit out of me.I´m more than fine
up to 1999,after that?
You can think anything you want here, but, stones are not up
for this anymore.Theres no response, for the money we pay
for them,it used to be otherwise.
2nd June 2006 01:08 PM
LadyJane That's YOUR opinion marko.

I don't share it.

Send them back here...I'll see every show I can get to.

I say the same, I can hear them play SOL 10 times if they are back here.

caro If only one Paris show is rescheduled so far (and considering what a huge success the last Olympia show was), wouldn't it be an obvious idea to reschedule the 2nd show in a smaller venue? Smaller places are probably easier to book on a short notice, and there wouldn't be the whole logistics of transporting the stage, and a small show would be less exhausting for recovering Keith after the coconut assault... Am I being totally delusional?

Nah, with all the crazy stuff that's been going on lately, you can't bet on anything Corgi

I thought 2006 was going to be their last time on the road. And I usually don't think about "last times". Seems we're in for more!

(But Fiji islands? THAT, I hope they stay clear off )

Surprised that no one has noticed that the Stones appear to have a busy schedule on 8th August

The Zurich show is the 5th August, in case you're wondering

Thankfully all the shows I had planned to see are safe, but its disappointing that they couldnt reschedule more than what theyve done and have pulled shows that were due to take place AFTER the new start date. I'm gutted for those of who who are missing out this year - but the silver lining is that Europe gets to see the Stones in both 2006 and 2007.

Draw your own conclusions for the main reason. I find it hard to believe they could only reschedule TWO shows in September. But hey, as long as they get to tour America in the autumn and make a shitload of cash to enable them to top the 'highest grossing' charts, thats OK....

On the bright side, thats hopefully an end to all the doom and gloom speculation about Keith's health and the whole tour being cancelled or postponed.

not sure that the money side of it is purely incidental, with the big crew and all. How will Europe see 2007 shows?

because eleven of the shows scheduled for this year have been postponed and the press release states that there will be no more summer 2006 shows other than those on the new itinerary and several of the promoters/ticket agencies have already stated that announcements will be made soon about new dates for these shows in 2007.

Barcelona, Madrid, Brussels, Gothenburg, St Petersburg, Brno, Warsaw, Athens, Zagreb, Frankfurt and Amsterdam #2 will all take place in 2007 (still seems to be some confusion over Paris #2 as it appears both Paris shows are being merged into one new date in July 06)

I cant imagine the Stones will just put the band and crew into mothballs for six months just to play eleven stadium shows. Expect to see maybe some of the 'rumoured' shows that didnt pan out for this summer added (Lyon? Dublin?) added to that plus extras in major markets that can support Stones shows on two successive summers such as England, Germany and Holland. While the last two sold slowly this year, that shouldnt be a problem in a non-World Cup year. I expect a show in London (if Wembley IS finally ready, no way will they pass that one up), Rotterdam and a couple more German cities. With a bit of luck, maybe we'll get an arena show or two as well (I've given up all hope of theatres, unfortunately)

Extra shows are conjecture but make perfect sense, not least of all economically.

Suits me. Shorter but more frequent bursts of touring make more sense at this stage of their career than one massive tour where theyre knackered halfway through and then dont work for a couple of years afterwards

This year's tour consists of 21 shows. I would expect next summer's to be almost the same length.
