Pointless even reporting a story to begin with, if its going to be twisted into something like this
Maybe he was up the tree looking for Elvis and the Loch Ness monster.....

Legendary Rolling Stones guitarist extraordinaire, Keith Richards fell from a tree here yesterday
and got a bump on the noggin'. In a rare competitive display, Rolling Stones rockers Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood scaled several large palm trees at the exclusive resort, Wackowacko, Fuji. Said Woods, "We were only trying to see who could get higher." Added Woods, "then we decided to climb some trees." Richards won the match. Once at the top he appeared to intentional dive head first into his vodka glass below. Bystanders were not sure if Richards ever lost consciousness. Richards was taken to the local hospital to have what appeared to be several large fishing lures removed from his skull. Doctors concluded that said lures absorbed the impact and probably saved Richards’ life. He was then flown to a larger, more exclusive hospital for observation and a new hairdo. Richards’ wife and translator, Patti Hansen remains at his side to comment on any ordinary behavior.

This story might inspire some more "oh no, not you again" type lyrics on their next album - "I fell off the boat (tree)"
"I fell down to my feet and I saw them bled" |

April 30, 2006 - Keith Richards, the English guitarist and songwriter, best known for his work with The Rolling Stones which gained him renown as one of world's greatest guitarists, died yesterday in Wellington. He was 62.
The cause were serious brain injuries - after he dropped down from a banana tree, trying to catch a monkey female in heat - and multiple organ failure, said George Walker, his publicist. Known professionally simply as Keef, Mr.Richards has been hospitalized for the last two days at the St. Insanity Hospital in Wellington.
Guys, you can call me crazy, but this aint gonna happen!

Keith Richards treated after concussion
Sat Apr 29, 2006 9:45 PM BST13
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards suffered a concussion in Fiji, a band spokeswoman said on Saturday. Media reports said he had fallen from a coconut tree and was recovering in New Zealand.
Richards, 62, was treated locally and then flown to a hospital outside of Fiji as a precaution, Rolling Stones spokeswoman Fran Curtis said.
Curtis said Richards suffered a mild concussion earlier in the week. She said she did not know how it happened. He was still hospitalised on Saturday.
The New Zealand Sunday Star Times reported that Richards, who had been on vacation at a luxury resort in Fiji, was being treated in a hospital in Auckland and that he was mobile and had not had surgery.
It quoted Dr. Uzzal Kanti Dhar, of Suva Private Hospital in Fiji, where Richards was first treated, as saying, "I understand he climbed a coconut tree and fell from the tree and got injured."
Along with lead singer Mick Jagger, Richards has been the backbone of the Rolling Stones since the 1960s. His history of arrests and drug abuse in younger years has given him the reputation as rock 'n' roll's ultimate survivor.
Earlier this month, the Stones finished a tour of Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand. |

News from Australia
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has been rushed from Fiji to a private hospital in New Zealand after suffering head injuries while holidaying at an exclusive island resort, according to reports.
Richards was said to have first suffered headaches after falling from a coconut tree and was then involved in a jetski accident.
"He was injured. I don't know how badly," a spokeswoman at the Wakaya Club resort told the Sunday News.
Richards received initial treatment at a hospital in Fiji and was then flown to the Ascot Hospital in Auckland on Thursday where he is understood to have undergone brain scans, the Sunday Star-Times said.
Although hospital staff refused to confirm Richards was a patient, the newspaper said Richards was conscious, mobile, had not undergone surgery and was expected to be discharged early this week.
Richards and his wife had been staying at the 7,600 US dollars a night resort after the Stones played two shows in New Zealand in mid-April.
According to the band's website, their next scheduled concert in their Bigger Bang tour is in Spain in late May.

Stones' Keith Richards out of his tree
Wellington (dpa) - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is recovering at an Auckland hospital after reportedly falling out of a palm tree at a private island resort in Fiji, news reports said Sunday.
A spokeswoman for the band confirmed that Richards, 62, was in hospital and told Radio New Zealand he had suffered a mild concussion in an accident in Fiji, but would not say how he was injured.
The Sunday Star-Times said it understood Richards was conscious and mobile and had not had surgery in the Mercy-Ascot Hospital where he was taken after a 3-1/2 hour emergency flight from Fiji on Thursday.
The newspaper said he was examined by a neurosurgeon and orthopaedic specialist and was understood to have had brain scans in what it described as "top secret treatment."
He had been kept in hospital as a precaution and could be well enough to leave early in the week, the paper said.
It quoted a visitor to the hospital as saying Richards was sitting up in bed Saturday night wearing a colourful striped beanie (hat) with his wife, former fashion model Patti Hansen, at his side.
Richards was said to have hired his own security guards and the hospital has refused to confirm that he is a patient.
The Star Times quoted Dr Uzzal Kanti Dhar, of a private hospital in the Fiji capital Suva, as saying Richards was admitted there on Thursday after being flown from the Wakaya Club resort.
"I understand he climbed a coconut tree and fell from the tree and got injured," he said.
The paper said the decision to evacuate Richards came after he developed a serious headache following the fall and was involved in a jet-ski accident.
After being examined at the Suva Private Hospital, he was flown to Auckland for further treatment.
Richards was holidaying in Fiji after the Rolling Stones' tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The Sydney Morning Herald in Australia reported that fellow Stones member Ron Wood was climbing the tree with Richards when he slipped and hit his head. |

I remember when Keith used to be COOL!
When did he become a pathetic drunk, stoned, lunatic, senior citizen, in a palm tree? Even Ronnie wood never fell out of a tree.
This is, as J.B. would say, Yet Another Humiliation. Keith is an embarassment to us all.

Several of these sources mention that Ronnie was indeed with Keith when this happened. Also, remember, Mick said that Ronnie was going to Fiji in that undercover woman's report, so it looks like he was there with Keith. I find the relationship between Keith and Ronnie as a very good thing. I say this because much has been made of the constant friction between Mick and Keith and of the relationships in the band altogether. Keith and Ron have always been good pals and it's nice to see them still hanging out outside of the Stones. If you remember the short intro. clip to the '03 MSG HBO show (on Four Flicks too), these two are seen sitting in a dark room playing acoustic guitars together, laughing, and embracing. I love it. And by the way, get well Keith! I bet he's reenergized and on fire in Barcelona.
