kath i spent november 3rd wallowing in denial. i did not turn on the computer at all. not once. and i only watched cable tv that doesn't acknowledge the news. and if that failed, i have a huge library of movies i can watch. then, at 11 pm, i tuned in to "the daily show with jon stewart" and tried to come to terms with it.

i still haven't watched the "news" yet, i just can't bear to see that smug arrogant grin of his. and yes, i am advising that we hang on to our socksies. this is gonna be one hell of a bumpy four years. then of course, jeb will be next in line for the throne....

of course, there are also the other issues to be concerned about. the gay marriage issue (why do we want to tamper with the CONSTITUTION????)and a lot of our basic rights are gonna be taken away and/or altered. and if you don't believe in prayer in schools or nativity scenes in government offices, better gouge your own eyes out now.

this is gonna be ugly.

Sir Stonesalot >Are you trying to imply something here guy ?<

Not really, just an observation.

As great a man as Lincoln was, he could not unite a divided nation. Not without the force of arms, of course.

If Lincoln, one of the greatest men to hold the office, could not bring unity, how can a fucknut like W do it? And quite honestly, I don't really think he's interested in unity. He's gonna load up the Supreme Court with social conservatives and turn John Ashcroft loose. He's going to advance his agenda of perpetual war. In 4 years we will be even more alienated and isolated than we are now. Our country will devolve.

I am very afraid for what kind of country my son will try to make his way in. I find it very unsettling.

OK, I'm too lucid...depression is closing in...time to get numb and listen to "London Calling" again.
November 4th, 2004 11:33 PM
gypsy tele, I think they were/are planning on having sex on the mattress. The little paint-huffers in my 'hood built a treehouse in the park just off the jogging trail...I'm sure they'll add a mattress soon. I do carry my switchblade now when I go running. I will stab a huffer if I am forced to do so.
Don't those idiots know that you bring the mattress out when it's dark and no one is around?
Or were you donning your night vision goggles again?

Sir Stonesalot >SS, snap the fuck out of it, you whiny little bitch!<

Get over here and make me, ya slot.

And now for something completely different....

London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard you boys and girls
London calling now don't look to us
Phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the ring of the truncheon thing

The ice age is coming
The sun is zooming in
Engines stop running
The wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error
But I have no fear
London is drowning
And I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it brother and go it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out and draw another breath
London calling and I don't want to shout
But while we were talking I saw you nodding out
London calling see we ain't got no highs
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

The ice age is coming
The sun is zooming in
Engines stop running
The wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error
But I have no fear
London is drowning
And I live by the river

London calling yes I was there too
And you know what they said? Well some of it was true
London calling at the top of the dial
After all this won't you give us a smile.

Sir Stonesalot Just as true today as it was in 1979....

Working For The Clampdown--Strummer/Jones

What are we gonna do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
'Cause they're working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers

The judge said five to ten-but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

You grow up and you calm down
You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown
You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
You made your first kill now

In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
But ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!

And I've given away no secrets
Who's barmy now?

lucasd4 Oh shut up! If that loser Kerry had won, you'd be on here gloating right now...I'll be thinking how pathetic you are this weekend while I crank LIVE LICKS full blast...what a great week...victory for Bush, awesome LIVE LICKS album from Stones, and JB/Mr. Lawyer/Loser Backer hating them both

As a democrat who voted for Kerry, I congratulate President Bush and the republican party for their sweeping victories yesterday. The country has spoken, and spoken very loudly, that they support this president and his conservative agenda. We democrats should graciously accept defeat and concede. The election was fair and both candidates ran strong campaigns. Kerry has nothing to be ashamed about as he received close to 54 million votes and many people share his political point of view. If we(democrats) ever want to win back the presidency and or congress, we simply have to work harder than the republicans do. While we go back to our normal routinues, they(the republican machine) are already targeting the next vulnerable democrat(see Tom Daschle). They have an extroadinarily smart, tenacious, and unyielding team, unlike the dems who still rely on old timers like Bob Shrum to run their campaigns. Anyway, good luck to the president and god bless this great country....and please, my fellow democrats, don't whine and make it worse than it is .....

I am in full agreement with you kath. It IS gonna get unbelievably ugly now and all in the name of God. We have no future, we've taken a big step backwards by about 2,000 years. It is truly the beginning of the end. I cannot come to terms with that. I am frightened to the core of my being.

I have to stay close to Bob's healing music. Last night I got to see John Fogerty's A&E special and his music soothed me too...he rocks!

Hang in there as best you can. I'm tryin' to do the same.

Bob did vote republican ......

you tell me about politics
this that
you speak of rats.
geese. a world of peace
you stumble stammer
pound your fist
an' i tell you there are no politics
you swear
tell me how much you care
you cheat the lunch counter man
out of a pack of cigarettes
an' i tell you there are no politics
you tell me of goons'
graves. ginks an' finks
an' of what you've read
an' how things should be
an' what you'd do if . . .
an i say someone's been
tamperin' with your head
you jump
raise your voice
an' gyrate yourself
t' the tone of principles
your arm is raised
an' i tell you there are no politics
in the afternoon you run
t' keep appointments
with false lovers
an' this leaves you
drained by nightfall
you ask me questions
an' i say that every question
if it's a truthful question
can be answered by askin' it
you stomp
get mad
i say it's got nothin' t' do with
gertrude stein
you turn your eyes
t' the radio
an' tell me what a
wasteland exists in television
you rant an' rave
of poverty
your fingers crawl the walls
the screen door leaves black marks
across your nose
your breath remains on
window glass
bullfight posters hang crooked above your head
an' the phone rings constantly
you tell me how much i've changed
as if that is all there is t' say
out of the side of your mouth
while talkin' on the wires
in a completely different
tone of voice
than you had a minute ago
when speakin' t' me about something else
i say what's this about changes?
you say "let's go get drunk"
light a cigarette
"an' throw up on the world"
you go t' your closet
mumblin' about the phoniness of churches
an' spastic national leaders
i say groovy but
also holy hollowness too
yes hollow holiness
an' that some of my best friends
know people that go t' church
you blow up
slam doors
say "can't no one say nothin' t' you"
i say "what do You think?"
your face laughs
you say "oh yeeeeeaah?"
i'm gonna break up i say
an' reach for your coat
'neath piles of paper slogans
i say your house is dirty
you say you should talk
your hallway stinks as
we walk through it
your stairs tilt drastically
your railing's rotted
an' there's blood at the
bottom of your steps
you say t' meet bricks with bricks
i say t' meet bricks with chalk
you tell me monster floor plans
an' i tell you about a bookie shop
in boston givin' odds on the presidential
race
i'm not gonna bet for a while i say
little children
shoot craps
in the alley garbage pot
you say "nothin's perfect"
an' i tell you again
there are no
politics
