corgi37 Americans surely have the best medical facilities and staff. Christ, remember Marcus Welby?? That House guy is incredible (though he hides the fact he's English - and the blonde guy is Aussie). Your hospitals are second to none. I imagine they are all like St. Elsewhere, with lots of Ed Begley Jnr's running around.

We have free health care, so i dont really care.

Yes,,,but you guys don't have a 500 billion dollar a year military to maintain. It cost good money to be the world's policeman.

pdog This talk about Socialized medicine and having to wait for treatment reminds me of my experience in 1996... I blew my knee out, I had Kaiser Insurance. It was almost 6 months of waiting before they finally performed the needed surgery...

I had a stomach infection in 1994, and I knew it. Took almost two months of being sick before they ran the tests I was begging for, I lost alot of weight and finally the tests showed what I thought was wrong, and got an RX, and was better within a week.

We spend hundreds of dollars every month to an inurance company, for a feling of security, even though, they papaer pushers have tried denying us medicine, and treatments, and we're lucky, nothing like what you saw in Sicko.
I think I want to moe to France and live with Egon... I hope he wants to adopt an American family...

How about an American hero being denied help b/c of some bueracrat paper pusher, only to get help in Cuba. Moore's can be over the top, but somethings are just simple. Like the WTC volunteers, who risked everything, and now casn't get treatment b/c our system is about making money by denying care...

From personal experience, I knew it was bad over here. But that is downright evil.

sirmoonie Health care in the U.S. is expensive and sub-par because 95% of U.S. physicians are overpaid, lazy and incompetent. If it wasn't for pharmaceutical and medical device companies (mostly European), those friggin' hacks would still be using voodoo and leeches.

I don't know if that's true or not.
But it wouldn't surprise me. But are the doctors "overpaid-overcharge" because of the high costs of insurance. At least thats what they say. Personally I've only had one run in with the medical establishment....when my aorta busted 3 years ago. But I'm ready to quit again. Fuck their medecine. They jumped one of my scripts from 22.00 to 37.00 last month. I'm glad I'm heathy apart from that.

Them and the Satellite TV companies.

So who you gonna vote for in 2008?
Capone or Moran?

It is true. Unlike many here, I don't post lies.

I'm voting for John McCain - a true American, intelligent, fair, knowledgeable about our system of government, great leader. And his wife likes to romp.

I'm voting for Ron Paul. As of yesterday he's got more campaign money than McCain. I don't know much about his wife's romping habits though.

A friend of mine was this Japanese. He had a girlfriend in
Paris. He tried to date her in six months and eventually she
said yes. You know he took her to his apartment, cut off her
head. Put the rest of her body in the refrigerator, ate her
piece by piece. Put her in the refrigerator, put her in the
freezer. And when he ate her and took her bones to the Bois de
Boulogne, by chance a taxi driver noticed him burying the
bones. You don't believe me? Truth is stranger than fiction.
We drive through there every day

Starbuck some/most doctors work their asses off. i know; i'm married to one. she is officially part time and she works on average 45 hours a week. and no, no porsches in the garage. porsches are reserved for specialists - primary care docs only make between $110 and $150 or so. not a lot if you consider it takes 8 years of school and a three year residency at the least (some residencies are longer) before you can begin your practice.

the problem with the health care system is not in doctor salaries but with lawyers. and insurance companies, of course. if we limited the amount of dough a lawyer could make off a malpractice suit, that would bring down insurance costs for doctors and relieve a huge excess burden on the whole health care industry.

it's always the frickin' lawyers, isn't it?
