You are wise beyond your years, my Brazilian buddy. I'm afraid this is the least of my pronouncements, though.

What IS #1 right now? Who can tell me? who cares? I will care when it's THE STONES. Not before. OR after.

John Wood I will buy it. My hope is great sales=more studio albums low sales this could be it, or at least for a long time. It's getting close to a decade since BTB!!! Holy Fuck!!Time is running out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 29th, 2005 11:41 PM
Happy Motherfucker!! Sorry, but burning the CD without buying it is just unexceptable. That is the fun of it all, openning the wraper, checking out the art work and cranking the fucker up. If you're to damn cheap to spend 15 bucks on a new Stones album this say something about your overall opinion of the band. They are musicians and deserve to be treated fairly when it comes to a new release, and this has NOTHING to do with ticket prices. It's a new Stones album and should be treated as such.
June 30th, 2005 12:32 AM
Nasty Habits As someone with some experience in independent music retailing, I can say this pretty confidently: New Stones CDs do not sell via independent venues. Catalog Stones CDs DO sell thru mom and pop stores, because they stock real Stones releases instead of 10 copies of Flashpoint and ripoff discount interview CDs like corporate stores do - they keep the quality in and the crap out.

But people who shop indie don't usually buy new Stones CDs anyway. Not enough to make it worth paying 13.48 to stock something that will sell for $17.98 if you're lucky and is a bitchass headache to return if you're not. Saying something is $10 at Best Buy as a defense for the righteousness of buying it at Best Buy is as big a crime as "stealing" a CD by burning it. Sorry. Burning a Stones CD is not theft, not when the price of a CD is tantamount to theft. Anyone who spends $250 on a ticket to a show should get a fucking CD for free anyway.

Here's what I say: If it comes out on vinyl, buy the vinyl. And burn the CD. That's my plan.

Bitch The first day the new CD hits the stores, I'll buy one copy. Can't wait to have it, opening day, the excitement of new STONES MUSIC- long awaited, looking forward to it!!

After I get home I'll burn two more, one for the car and one to carry around. I don't use the original, unless I need another copy. I don't find this as stealing, since I bought one. I'll play it continuously until I know every bit of every song. Play it for anyone who wants to hear it. It's gonna be great - 18 songs!

At 18 songs that's less than a buck a song and I think that is damn cheap!!
June 30th, 2005 11:32 AM
twicks1 My plan is to burn my copy from a friend here at work, then make a few copies for some friends. Who knows, if the album is really good, they might get the "Stones bug" again and buy tickets to see the boys live...thus putting even more $$ in Mick's bank account.

June 30th, 2005 11:42 AM

June 30th, 2005 11:42 AM

Do not come to Chicago, Boston, or Milwaukee expecting to be greeted!
June 30th, 2005 11:45 AM
glencar Well, you can bet you'll be saddled with buying this guy's drinks. Unless he tries to "burn" them too!

Common criminals will typically bring their own "Strohs" into the bar or reach behind when the bartender is not looking.

lame

If this album is any good then I'm gonna BUY my good friends copies. Then I'll BUY my not-so good friends copies of it. And then I'll BUY my distant associates copies. And if its really good, then I'll BUY copies and give them to my enemies too.

this album will be number one if I have to BUY multiple copies and hand them out on the street to strangers.
June 30th, 2005 02:21 PM
twicks1 You could buy me one, if you like.

you got a deal. If you promise to buy 2 friends a copy in return.

you can burn all you want after that
June 30th, 2005 02:31 PM
twicks1 It would be less expensive for me to just burn them my copy. I've given the Stones enough money this year.
