Gonzalo,
I wrote the moderators an e-mail,
but I'll write one more, where I mention the contrast clause.
I only explained it in "normal language" in my mail.
I can't believe this nonsense, it was labeled *new version* while the old torrent was called *old version*.
If they dime don't put it back on the tracker, I don't bother to put up anything again, apart from one show I have promised to do.
I'll put The Harder They Come on Rocks Off of course,
let's see what happens,
Greetings,
Erik.
Well, 'old version' or 'new version' is not enough on Dime Eric. You should explain them why exactly the new version differs from the old one, in the contrast clause.
If the Mods don't accept your contrast clause, please upload the torrent here without changing any files so pleople can resume it from the previous one. I was at 0.1% anyway
Good luck!

Gonzalo are you there ?
I got a mail from dime where they wanted me to include an exact "contrast clause" for the torrent, and then they would put it back to the tracker. The thing is...that I don't understand where I should put that clause. In the description or in the header? My English isn't well enough to come up with the exact way of doing this. Help would be appreciated, it would be nice to get this thing settled before that torrent gets too old.
Greetings, Erik.

You should put the contrast clause at or near the top of the torrent's description page only, not in the header or in the torrent's internal .txt file.
I don't know the differences between this new version and the old one, so I'm sorry but I can't help you more with this contrast clause.
IMO, if the Mods don't like your email or contrast clause... f***'em, upload the torrent here and forget about Dime.
All the best,

I'm just getting back into action.... or should I say obsession!
There is also a Mac app called Cog that will play flac files, but doesn't like shn files very much. VLC Media Player may also play flac, which saves a lot of time when you are downloading a single track to check sound quality. |

I'm not trying to start a flame war over mickboys work but i think that the mickboy tokyo show being banned from our tracker should be reconsidered. If the LOSSY aspect came from a superier source and somewhere down the line it became lossy i could understand the ban.The fact of the matter is that this is just part of mickboys remastering process so it has not been diminished from the original product The product being MICKBOYS version of the tokyo show). Gazza , Charlotte or whomever makes the call on what gets on our tracker, please reconsider lifting the ban so we can all enjoy the fruits of mickboys labor...........cabledogg2

It was my impression that not all MiniDisc recordings were lossy, and that many live recordings are made on MiniDisc using a non-lossy, pass-through codec or setting. Am I wrong? |

quote: jholcomb wrote:
I always get a kick out of the "lossy" debate, no matter what torrent site is involved. It's OK to put on a lossless audience recorded torrent that sounds like it was recorded at the bottom of a garbage can, but don't put on a "lossy" soundboard or broadcast.
Of course, it's always better to be lossless if it's possible, but I've heard some "lossy" recordings that sounds a lot better than some "lossless" ones.
Ummm, Holcomb posted the above correct statement only to have several people reply with irrelevant lectures on lossy vs. lossless. It is clear that Holcomb wasn't saying a lossy version of a file was better than a lossless version of the same file, but instead that there are plenty of crappy boots that, though lossless, sound like utter hell. It is also clear that he/she was pointing out, in the most diplomatic way possible, the absurdity of allowing poor sounding lossless boots while banning a Mickboy remaster because it passed through a MiniDisc at some point (see earlier post for my question of whether this actualy makes the files lossy). I have to agree that the banning of the Mickboy remasters is absurd, if indeed there is no better version in existence. Even Dime allows webcasts if that is the only version available (or at least they did at one time), and those are surely more compressed than the Mickboy releases. If no better version of a release exists, then there is no point in blindly keeping to the "lossless only" rule, as long as the lossy file posted is noted as being such. The entire point of the lossless rule must be to allow only the best version of a file, not simply the best sounding files. If it were the latter, the hundreds of barely listenable audience recordings posted here over the years would never have been allowed.
It seems the MickBoy releases occupy a special category. If they are somewhat lossy, but there is no better version, and they sound great, then what is the rationale for banning them?

Although I don't run anything here, I'm pretty sure that MickBoy's stuff isn't put on here because of content issues, not quality issues.
Most of MickBoy's stuff is remix's of official releases. Allowing that on tracker could very well lead to the tracker being taken down for good. |

Mickboys remasters of official recording aren't allowed here, but DAD won't allow hs stuff ,that is not officially released. B/c of the mini disc issue. |

9. Under My Thumb
10. Midnight Rambler
11. Live With Me
12. Little Queenie
13. Satisfaction
14. Honky Tonk Women
15. Street Fighting Man
Date/Venue:
November 8, 1969 (2nd show)
Inglewood, CA, The Forum
Original info:
This is a low generation source of the alternate recording of the Rolling Stones at the LA Forum, Nov. 8, 1969, 2nd show. It is similar in quality to the better known version released by Vinyl Gang as part of "Cocaine on a Dentist Chair," among others. VGP did a great job of bringing out the guitars on their version. On this recording, the guitars are quieter, and so is the crowd. I would rate the quality VG+ audience.
This recording has been previously released on CD as "Born in the Crossfire Hurricane," Sonic Zoom SZ 1002. I used to have that, but this low gen. source is better. It runs at the correct speed, "Born" runs fast, and it has less hiss.
Sorry, no art for this, but at least it's presented in the latest and greatest FLAC 1.1.4 level 8. |
