Gazza Someone always posts a solo artist (its BANDS fer Chrissakes)...grrr..

The vast majority of my favourite acts apart from the Stones happen to be solo artists - Dylan, Springsteen, Elvis, Neil Young, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Johnny Cash.

Solo artists have longevity so you tend to 'grow' with them. Bands tend not to last too long, which might explain why the only band that matters to me is the band who have been around longer than all of the rest.

the only two groups in my 'top ten' would be The Beatles and The Clash, and even then they'd be at the lower end of it.

After those two, it would be The Who, The Doors,U2, The Band, Creedence and The Velvet Underground.
