JaggerLips This is a yawnful topic

People are always saying today's music is crap and stuff but there was a lot of rubbish in the 50s 60s etc etc. The bands that you think of (naturally) The Stones and the Beatles were one offs, The Stones are survivors they have stayed together and not spent too long taking time out like some other bands like Duran Duran who are now back together again. The Stones have always been there.

There are good bands out there like Franz Ferdinand for instance it's just that the radio companies seem to prefer filling us with McFly and Busted and Britney Spears. Thank god U2 are still doing their stuff.
When boybands split up like Take That and Boyzone, do I shed a tear? No because they are all commercialised anyway and there will be another boy band to replace them, Westlife will split soon and there will be another band all too willing to put themselves on the corporate commercial treadmill.

What I can't stand is that everyone has to be skinny and beautiful these days to get a record deal, whether you can sing is immaterial. It sends a bad message to teenagers who are impressionable and also sends out the message of sexuality, sexualising people far too early. 12 year old girls wanting babies and boyfriends and wearing lipstick to school etc etc.
I hate what todays music industry is doing to teenagers these days.

Sorry for this rant but I needed to get it out of my system.

For the record I female and 21 years old if people were wondering how old I am. Yes I do sound old before my time.

agreed. But The Black Crowes are the exception. They know how to rock.

TornAndFrayed Stop living in the past. Get off your lazy butt and start looking for good contemporary music. It´s out there:

The last LIBERTINES and KINGS OF LEON albums have both been instant classics.

THE WHITE STRIPES are one of the most passionate and most original bands for a long time. Check out their new DVD.

SONIC YOUTH are the greatest live band I´ve ever seen. Check out their current album "Sonic Nurse".

Has anyone heard of BRITISH SEA POWER?

I saw (and taped) INTERPOL last week and they rocked.

There are so many good bands out there that I personally won´t waste my time with "Live Licks".
