I quite agree. While never a fan of Heart, that album was their absolute nadir, a descent to AOR sellout equivalent to porn woman DVDA.

Don't talk that way to a c-10 member!!!! Sirmoonie is a great internet friend of mine! With the negative attacks you could be a z-0 member, and man, that is not ok!!
09-24-02 04:45 PM
sirmoonie Yeh, rap this ya little fucking bugnut. I'll wrap your ass around the back of your head with your mother's yellow socks! Pookadinjo....mookie, mookie....make pinche' with wee rabbits, eh? Esmockes your culo, julio!
09-24-02 04:55 PM
stonesmik It may well be Pete sings on "Slave", I know that rumour. I just can't hear him on the track.

The assumed line-up for "Slave" is:
Ollie E. Brown (Percussion), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, backing vocals), Nicky Hopkins (piano), Billy Preston (organ), Keith Richards (electric guitar), Sonny Rollins (saxophone), Pete Townshend (backing vocals), Charlie Watts (drums), Ron Wood (electric guitar), Bill Wyman (bass)

However, Nicky, Pete and Sonny haven't been in the studio during the original recording, they were added in autumn 1980. The solo is played by Keith. I believe Nicky is not present. I can't hear Pete.

Pants Make the Man Be careful, RagingGoat!!! I must say, "back to the carrot farm, the jacko!!!" will only get you so far. Funny shit, but sirmoonie is a heavyweight. Out of curiosity, how could you not know the difference beteween a goat and a cow, yet you use words like hermaphrodite? What is your native tongue?
09-24-02 05:13 PM
Boomhauer Thanks Stonesmik (wow, that seemed weird!).

Sirmoonie.....................kick this "thing's" ass! It is a "thing" isn't it? Is it a Coat or a Goaw? I have no clue.

Maybe Stonesalot can clear it up. What is "it" sir?
09-24-02 05:13 PM
Raging GOAT!!! Goat grewed up with those ones on the street where we have to know words the "hermaphordite" like that to survive. Rough. A world of volcanoes and halitosis. A gasgasgasn't.

sirmoonie I need room to operate, Boommie, and I don't have much right now, what with being called by Mick to NYC for these high-level power meetings. Duty calls and all that jive. But what I'd like you and my other proteges, Muppie and Soulie, to do is keep an eye on this Raggoatie and give me a full debriefing when I get back.

In the meantime, don't get too near him, he's a bit more dangerous than I thought at first. If you want to take some shots at him, do so at a distance and make sure the three of you are on-line at the same time for backup. Don't be afraid to rely on each other and remember what I have taught you. Do not, and I repeat, do NOT try to impress me with some foolish solo heroics. Okay? I don't want to lose you any of you guys.

Don't worry, we'll boil the hair off his goatnuts eventually, it just may take a little longer than I had originally assumed.

P.S. Keep an eye on this StonesMilk character too. Something about him strikes me as funny. Maybe its that ballerina-in-training avatar. Dunno. Can't quite pin it down yet.

See ya, guys!

stonedinaustralia the jury's still out with me - but i suspect sirmoonie may be right - the goat has effected a few flashes of brilliance but can he sustain the rage - or is he just a one-trick-cow?
09-24-02 10:14 PM
Sir Stonesalot HONKYTONKLESS HERMAPHRODITE!!!!!

See.

I tried to tell you guys.

MooGOAT is good. Very good.

So good, in fact, that it is starting to shine some light onto this subject. This is no newbie amateur.

If you guys would just get past the being pissed off part, you could see the enormous talent at work here.

I mean, on one hand, it just attacked one of my closest cyberbrothers in sirmoonie. I was most tempted to draw my broadsword. But sirmoonie is C10. I don't want to dishonor him by needlessly jumping to his defense. Moonie IS a heavy hitter. I doubt that he really needs any help.

This allows me the luxury(I love that song!) of being an interested observer. MooGOAT came off with some wicked funny shit. I'll bet even Moonie laughed at it! And it was directed at HIM! That's how good that stuff is.

I have to wonder how dense some of you are. It keeps coming up that it's avatar is a cow and not a goat. DUH! Did you ever stop to think that THAT is EXACTLY the point? Look at how the cow smirks. It's smirking at YOU because you can't wrap your brain around the concept. That is THE best avatar I have ever seen on this, or any other, message board. And yet so many of you just don't get the rub. Ask Riffy. He gets it now.

Personally, I think Raging GOAT is seperating the men from the boys, so to speak. The haves, and the have nots. He's probing...testing. This is a very dangerous GOAT. I both like, and respect him. I don't fear it, for I too am a heavy hitter. I can deal with it...but I'll never have to. MooGOAT and I have an understanding. Unspoken. But quite clear.

It is my sincere hope that RG finds his cyberhome here. And in a way, I hope many of you NEVER get it. And I'm betting that MooGOAT hopes that many of you never get it either. It will be much more fun that way.

Go ahead, take the joust.

beer Raging Goat stole Uncle Remus's scooter?
09-24-02 11:11 PM
Riffhard Oh yes Sir Stonesalot,I get it.I get the whole cow/goat conundrum that seems to have so many here perplexed! The answer,as you rightly pointed out, lies in that brilliant bovine smirk."Ask not for who the cow smirks. He smirks for,and at,you!"

I mean just look at some of these examples of pure bovine/goat wit:

"Time was on my side. The righteous poetry of biology and coffee."

"They maked the goatsickle tickle"

"Coffee. fuck liver."

"The cattle for you The rustle tree feather."

"Kids and babies. Tongues. Think of the Fiji Jim and Honest Man, Mr. Sunshine. Smile; don't be so much the dark fucker!!!"

If you can't find the true wit and sheer talent in those beauties I'm afraid I can't help you. This cow/goat is no run of the mill livestock.Nay,he is livestock on some kind of rippin' poetic steriods.I can only beseech you all to study the smirk.Study the smirk closely.Soon you will all see the wisdom of the goat!

I too consider myself a heavy hitter here and I know when some newbie lurker is trying to pull the goats wool over my eyes, but this goat's got it goin' on!

Riffhard

Just FYI - the whole bit about Taylor not getting paid is a load of crock. He got "paid" for Slave, etc. when he was in the band performing and recording it, etc. He pulled his partnership draw on some periodic basis, or was an salaried employee. I don't know how it was structured, but he did get paid. When he leaves, he doesn't get paid again, just because they release a song after he leaves. Think about it. Now if he's pissing about songwriting credits and royalties, thats another issue. One that he was apparently too stupid or fucked up to handle when he was in the band. Nobody to blame but himself.
>>>
My point is the same. I only mentioned Slave because I took Mathjis to be saying Taylor was on Slave. I don't know whether he was or wasn't.
>>>

Sirmoonie, if you dont know what youre talking about then dont talk about it. First, I never said Taylor played on Slave, I said Ollie Brown played on Slave and sued the Stones for that.

Second, The Stones were sued in February 1982 by Nicky Hopkins, Mick Taylor, Jimmy Miller, Billy Preston and Ollie Brown for not being paid any royalties by the Stones. Negotiations were already held, but according to Ollie Brown (who stopped with the show business and became a real estate agent, which he still is today) the Stones were disputing who played what and how much should be paid. As it turns out, according to Brown, the Stones didnt want to disclose the amount of money that was made with the release of Tattoo You. Therefore the mentioned 6 persons sued the Stones in order to get some royalties. After the Stones were sued Jagger decided to not go to court and to make an undisclosed arrangement. According to Taylor in 1983/84 he received about $125.000 for the two songs he played on.

>How much would that be, gettin' paid for playin' on a Stones song? $500? Or will them >guest players get royalties? 0,3% of the share?

The Stones have arranged the division of money like this. Of every album that is sold, 20 % goes to the record company, 20 % goes to the LP/CD market and about 10 % goes to the recording studio. Of the remaining 50%, 40% goes to the author(s) and the rest is equally divided among the band members. This means that Jagger and Richards get about 17.5 % each of the royalties, and Charlie and Wood 7.5 %. This means if you sell 5 million copies of your album, Jagger and Richards earn about 13 million dollars each, and Charlie and Ron about 5 million dollars. However, the easy money is made when your single is played on the radio, covered by another band, or when you sell 1 million singles and score a no. 1 hit. When played on the radio, the author receives about 60% of the $1 a radio station has to pay. The band members get about 20%, and the record company the remaining 20%. This is the reason Ron Wood had financial problems in 1983, while he even was a Stone. This is the reason the Stones didnt play England in 98, as Charlie and Ron would loose too much money while Jagger and Richards were o.k. When touring, the Stones divide all earnings evenly to all band members.

A session musician is normally paid a set sum of money. Nicky Hopkins was paid a yearly salary for his contributions, and when people like Billy Preston show up for one song (e.g. Saint of Me) he gets one (rather large amount) of money, and big bands like the Stones pay amounts up to $15.000 a day for a session musician like Preston.

Mathijs

ps on Fiji Jim the sound is indeed very much 94/95 like, but listen to Ronnie's solo on So Young: typical late 70's! Also, an outtake of the original So Young is available, and it is clearly the same track, with only different vocals and an added piano.

09-25-02 09:11 AM
Sir Stonesalot Damn fine post Mathy! Damn fine!

I was framiliar with the way royalties worked, but I never really knew quite what the Stones breakdown was. Thanks for getting that info out there.

I really hope you got all that other stuff out of your system. Because when you post like you just did...it's always top notch.

Keep up the good work!

sirmoonie Mathjis - I could give a fuck what you said about who fucking played on Slave. I could also give a fuck and said nothing about fucking lawsuits. My point was Taylor got paid. And thats why he didn't sue, despite his pissing and moaning. Verstehen?

Bovine boy - Check it, cudsucker, its abbatoir time. Hoof and moof. You're going down! My vanguard will be watching you in my absence so don't try anything slick.
