Keith is a sad parody of a once great guitarist...he still talks the talk, but can't walk the walk....he plays like a sissy, sings boring ballads, and pisses on anyone who ever did anything great for the band, including his lead singer. He is a washed up old lady.
Someone took their Happy pills today....... Why do you bother posting on a rolling stones board? You obviously dont like them. Go back to your Bon Jovi message board

When you are worth $300 million plus ++++++ your not doing it for the money......you dont need it.
So he is obviously doing it because of the music |

I guess it depends on what you mean by integrity. I am not happy about prices, but I just do not see that has having anything to do with integrity; I would guess over 90% of us here are capitalists
Though if you belive his BS about "You take the money, " then I believe you are dreaming. I am amazed that there are still people that do not grasp that at least MJ and KR, and probably to some extent CW and a lesser one RW, are in all of these decisions together. Keith has as much to do with ticket prices, song selection for the CD, artistic direction etc etc as MJ, yet people want to lay the blame of every perceived fault at the feet of MJ.
If that were the truth, and I do not belive it one moment, then I would have real doubts about Keith's integrity. Of all the things that I believe about these guys, one of the strongest is that nothing happens in the Stones without Keith's agreement. I would really be disappointed if I were to discover he is a mere puppet on a string for MJ.

That's the big misconception here..I am very happy!!! I just like to focus on the ticket sales/album sales, legacy stuff...that stuff, imo, is interesting. Plus I miss Mick Taylor still after 30 yrs!!!
How old were you when Taylor left the band? 11? |

Why do people bash the STONES for being financially successful? They deserve it. They've worked hard and are entitled to make as much money as they can. They did not make good financial decisions early in their careers and are now making up for it! Just because they're making great money, it doesn't mean they don't love the music. It's not either the money or the music.
no one bashes them for being financially successful. Good luck to them. If you sell lots of records and sell lots of tickets, then you deserve to be very rich as a result. Anyone who disputes that is a moron. End of argument
I think the problem some of us have is the need to charge their fans at least two or three times as much as they should be doing for the 'privilege' of seeing them. Being financially successful and the pointless and greedy thirst for money you'll never spend arent the same thing.
theres nothing wrong with being a capitalist. Naked greed is another issue. I think its more an ego thing than a NEED to accumulate wealth, however - plus a classic case of losing touch with the real world.

Agreed - the Stones have had legal battles (Klein, Altamont, Jagger's multiple women, Taylor) waged against them and it simply empowered them to bigger and better things.
I see the Stones being great examples of personal sovereignty at work. Whatever they do is by their choice!! I wish it was the case for everyone (hint hint.. got a mortgage?).

Too much work at the office today. I read the title of the thread and thought it said "Has Keith lost his virginity?" |

Voodoo Scrounge |
I dont think Keith has lost his nails. I think he just got sore fingers from where he hadnt played in a while. I got it when I chopped the top of my finger off a year back. I recouperated and found thet the most painful thing was using the perfectly good fingers again.
His finger tip skin will harden again soon and you wont see the plasters. Notice how he has TWO plasters on each finger. The more prominant plaster running around the finger is merely holding in place a plaster running over the finger tips. I do that quite a lot |

And, why would hating RJ makes you feel like Bin Laden? I appreciate your opinion. But i would love to hear what you think is better than RJ in the Stones recent (last 20 years!) catalog, and why...
-
Not sure opinions are appreciated or respected unless you bow allegiance to the Stones and every song they've ever written...but here goes:
For rote rockers, I think most every song that fits that category is at least as good if not better than RJ from the past 20 years. YGMR and Sad, Sad, Sad being possible exceptions. The problems?
1) No hook. After 20 or so listens, there's still nothing memorable about the song for me.
2) Sameness of it all. Practically no chord changes. The song just sits there.
3) Guitar solo - hardly a hallmark of latter-day Stones songs, but this one is particularly predictable and lackluster.
4) Lyrics - again always a last resort if all else fails with a Stones song, but I find this set of lyrics especially amateur. I am personally sick and tired of penis references - it's a cheap laugh at best.
There's four reasons...I hope you truly do appreciate them....

Yes, BUT: so is much of exile and Some Girls. Similar grooves, worn out.

Yes, Mick ain't got much these days, but I hate that no one in rock n' roll sings about sex any more. I'd die if Mick started wailing about the world and how miserable things are like all the other wanker rocks on this planet. Personally, i'm tired of hearing people who play guitar for a living tell me how shitty things are. call it old fashioned, but i still like (at least some of) my rock to include some sex, drugs & rock & roll.
so yeah, all your points are true. but the songs still rock me. go figure.

There really are some grumpy old men of this board. Perhaps more fiber in their diet would help you appreciate the Stones and life a little more. Seriously, some of you are so full of @#$% you need some relief. |

Kinda goes back to the point of losing the Muse. PCness has infected everything. Sterility and placticity rule the roost of the old Rooster.

I have never expected to hear the greatest lyrics in the world on this new album. I dont think the stones have ever really been the best when it comes to lyrics.
Jagger certainly aint no good when it comes to writting about anything other than fucking.
It will be a good album and keith will sound great on tour. I think these guys know that the pressure is on them. Maybe Keith knows he played shit on the last tour when he could be bothered to play at all.
Most improved player...Ronnie. Keep up the good work son. |

After looking at those closeup pics of Keith fingers I suddenly

arthritis. |

Take a few things into consideration.
Keith is old.
His fingers are bloated.
He is a druggy.
He gets payed alot.
I love the bastard. |

LMAO!
I think Charlie and Ronnie look very good for their age. I don't know what's holding Keith together. I can see the 'ol bastard living to be in his 90s, just because. |

I think keith has left it a bit late to start his career as a graphic designer after Sidcup art school
I think he should stick with this Rolling Stones gig |

I think Keith hasn't changed that much. He only has become older as we all do... |

FPM C10 |
The thing to remember when discussing Keith's "integrity" (as opposed to his "chops", which some of you seemed to think was the same thing)is: He fought the law, and HE won. He has never had a "real" job in his life. He decided at a very young age that he would make his way in the world on his own terms, with his guitar. When he and Mick and Brian were starving and freezing in that little flat in Edith Grove it must've seemed like a forlorn hope. But he never gave a thought to giving up on it.
Having shared that same dream, and having been forced by life to abandon it, I view his success as something I can share vicariously. Everytime he and his band make an obscene amount of money for being Rolling Stones - or even when Mick was knighted - I view it as a victory for OUR side.
I understand if not everyone goes along with this. It's a very personal interpretation. But it's one of the main reasons I worship the Rolling Stones.
Integrity? Absolutely. Unless he gets a day job, he'll always have integrity.

Ah, yes. "If you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him."
OR
"Don't follow leaders/Watch the parking meter."
I don't worship Keith in any ritualized way. No shrine, no burnt offerings. I would never go to war to try to shove my admiration of Keith down anyone else's throat. And I don't think YOU will go to hell if you DON'T share my enthusiasm.
Let's just say Keith is my hero. Hearing his guitar playing on "Back of My Hand" this morning reaffirmed it. How's that? |
