gimmekeef Anyone who thinks replacing one dumbass politician with another will make a material difference is naive...France remains very divided and the gap is much wider than the red/blue state stuff we have here.

egon i fled the country just before the elections, and hiding out in canada.

Lethargy You're so right. They're free from mid east oil because they rely on nuclear power. They don't have idiotic environmentalists banning everything - nuclear plants, oil drilling, refinery building, etc.

This is one area where we could definitely follow the French and benefit...

Riffhard Take a good hard look at what is happening inside France now that Sarkozy has won. The Muslim nieghborhoods are burning and the leftists are on the streets starting fires too. The University of Paris students, indoctrinated just like US college students, are striking and clashing with the police. Gee,how typical! All this because a conservative won the presidential race fair and square!! When was the last time we saw the streets on fire from conservatives because a liberal won? Has that ever happened? Not in my liftime. So here are the facts. The muslim communities that rioted last year are once again up in arms, and their brothers in arms on the left are right there in full agreement with them. The world is truly upside down.

Having said that. I am still glad that the majority of French citizens have a brain.

Vive la France! Vive Sarkozy!

I can pretty much guarantee that most of those idiots setting the fires didn't vote. I'm sure some did,but just like here in the States, the ones that are rioting, burning shit, and smashing windows are nothing more than petty criminals looking to raise hell for shits and giggles. Why then does the left always embrace these idiots?

BTW I love that picture! Very funny and true! Her Thighness's book title tells you all you need to know about her. It Takes a Village is a perfect metaphor for socialism and that is Cankles' ultimate goal. Hey Hillary here's a clue. It does not take a village!! It takes a strong and moral family structure! In other words,a mother and father and a big healty dose of love. A village full of those kinds of families tends to take care of each other anyway without the socialist implications that she always tries to encourage.

Voodoo Stones riffhard, you don't seems to know what you are talking about. Liberal in the US can't be compared with the french "right". Sarko could be a dangerous guy. It's gonna be a police state, just like during the 3rd reich. He will vote a law for example to check internet surffers in France, looking at email, looking at privacy. Kids of 16 years will go in jail now. He does want kids to mess around in the night. Where's the liberty ?
There's a riot because a guy like Sarko could be bad for our country. First time a riot happened against a candidate for president. Do you think they are all dumbs ? Most of them voted.
