Is this why Pete thought he was a cop, when he was looking at child porn online.

Punk isn't a sound or type of music per se. It's a thought, attitude and definitely nowadays the DIY spirit. The police never had this... Sting did appear in The Great Rock And Roll Swindle and starred in Quadrophenia... But niether of these makes his Police music punk...

whippet33 pete townshend has balls even mentioning himself in the same sentence with the stones, let alone deciding who is and who isn't "classic" rock, they never even compared to the stones in musicianship, songwriting and just all around coolness!way overrated they are!

You're kidding?

New wave was a term invented by kids who didn't want to be associated with the false stigmatic label punk rock was given. So they invented a term called new wave. Basically it got stuck onto a ton of bands whose music was as diverse as what was called punk... The only real difference being, true punk has nothing to do with music, it's not a sound or a chord or a haircut or piece of clothing. and it really sucks that in 2007 people are just as clueless as they were in 1977...
