New wave was a term invented by kids who didn't want to be associated with the false stigmatic label punk rock was given. So they invented a term called new wave. Basically it got stuck onto a ton of bands whose music was as diverse as what was called punk... The only real difference being, true punk has nothing to do with music, it's not a sound or a chord or a haircut or piece of clothing. and it really sucks that in 2007 people are just as clueless as they were in 1977... |
