Those numbers aren't big, considering the war in Iraq costs $275 million per day. Do you know what that costs breaks down to, to every household in America a day... way more than helathcare and education... for me it is an ends justifying the means. Seriously, you get your war, I get healthcare and education... fuck it, it's only money! If our kids are worth it, then our kids are WORTH it, right?

Compared to the huge GDP our military spending is in line with most other countries, and no where near what it was during WWII. The war, while expensive, still gets only a fraction of our GDP compared to other expenditures. We as a country spend way way way more on public education than we do on our military in peace or war, yet have one of the worst public education systems in the western hemisphere. We also spend an insane amount on other ridiculous entitlment programs.

yet the dems are the idiots.

i don't get it. does 2+2=3 in riffy's world?

Read what you wrote first. Think about the wayward point you tried to express.

Then read what I wrote second. Assume it was a response to what you wrote first.

Then read what you wrote third. Read it in slow motion. See? See where that went? You threw a mormball and didn't even know it.

Okay now, try again. Get closer to the keyboard if you need to.

Moonie perhaps it is you that needs to reread what I posted. I will support McRINO because he is undeniably more qualified to defend the country at a time when 7th century wackjobs want to kill us all. He knows that it is not "fear mongering" by addressing these fact. However, on many other issues he is not even close to conservative, but I'll tell ya what, you just go on believing whatever the hell you want on that score.

Bucky the difference is this. I know for an absolute fact that this war must be fought, and it must be won. Cost be damned. I know this to be true just as so many in the military have stated time and time again. Still the cost of the war is a pittence when compared to the cash we are spending on ridiculous entitlement programs that the Dems have foisted on our backs.

Now Obama is saying that every child should have the right to a college education?! Hillary is talking about a $5,000.00 US bond for all children born in the USA! WTF? Bullshit! Those are not rights at all! That is something that must be earned, and worked hard to obtain. Many have done just that in the USA. When the government gets the hell outta the way the American Dream is still very obtainable if one wants it bad enough. Same goes for healthcare! Nowhere in the constitution does it say that the government owes me a health care plan! I pay for that out of my own pocket thank you very much, and I sure as hell don't want the government to tell what kind of coverage I can, or can't have. That is the very definiton of socialism. I want no part of that.

Private companies have over 150k people armed in Iraq and fighting in the war. They are employees of private companies, that is called fascism. Kinda makes the healthcare and education thing not really a big deal... and god forbid we have a smart and healthy country, if the terrorist do attack, we are better off sick and stupid.

Pdog there is nothing fascist about private companies hiring armed security personal, or even paid military trainers. It's not as if these people are going to be highjacking the Iraqi government. They are there as paid security guards and the like. Nothing wrong with that.

As far as the US Education system goes? Forget it. Don't even get me started. My sister-in-law has been in the education bussiness for over 25 years, and she can only shake her head in disgust at what teacher's unions and politicians have managed to do to it. We spend more on education than all of Europe combinded, and yet we have shit results. Throwing more cash at this problem is not the answer! The problem can only be addressed by weeding out shit teachers and administrators, and getting rid of unions that care more about defending piss poor teachers than educating the kids in their keep. The schools, the districts, the teachers, and yes, the unions, must be held to account.

Blackwater is running it's own miltary ops, has it's own intel organization, and has zero accountabilty, not the same as training and guarding... and let's not forget, they are being paid massive amounts of money, to do things our military and intel services can do.... so we zero accountabilty at 100 times the cost...
and yes, it is fascist when our govt. is run by financial, and industrial companies among a few types. and it is insane, that we know have private armies, operating in our name.

Weeding out.. dude one of the two 1st grade teachers at my school is getting laid off, increasing the class from 24 to 37... We already are buying school suplies. I don't give a shit how much, or who spends more. Our system is fucked, and no child keft behind is bullshit. My wife was a teacher, so I know a bit too. do you know what 37 time $4k is... that sum is the amount of money, spent in Iraq each day per student family. You know why Europe is better at educating... b/c they don't lie to their people to fund a bullshit war.
5th March 2008 11:33 PM
sirmoonie George Walker Bush III is a by-product of the best private education his father tied to buy him. And he isn't exactly color busting on the Bell Curve.

Indeed, it could be the case that we are pretty much fucked. I'm just saying.

Blackwater contractors are indeed held accountable when they have been proven to break the law. Besides even Obama has stated that he would "not rule out" the use of private security firms like Blackwater, as has Hillary. Blackwater personal are held to a much higher level of scrutiny than any UN forces! See the rape and pillage stories by UN forces in Africa in recent for the facts on that.

Blackwater does not constitute fascism though. Fascism represses the individual at the behest of the masses or state. It usually uses an overdose of nationalism or ethnic unity to achieve it's goal. Hitler was fascist, so was Mussolini, but the term can not honestly be applied to a private security firm like Blackwater.

Besides Blackwater is only hated by the Left now because of the Lefts' natural hatered of anything that smacks of militarism for hire. Many countries have hired Blackwater without any negative incidents, and even Benazir Bhutto wanted to hire them because of their immpeccable reputation for providing top notch security. Too bad she didn't, huh?

You want corrupt out of control military? Then look no further than the Lefts' avenging angels at the UN.

Blackwater ain't got shit on these guys!

The point is that throwing more tax dollars at a problem that the money clearly has not helped will continue to not help it!! Bush tried to propose a voucher program that would have forced schools to do a better job in either educating the kids or risk loosing those children, and the government funds to a school that would compete for the chance to educate them better. I'm all for it.

To try and blame this on Bush, or the Federal government is just wrong. I blame the unions almost entirely. If the unions, the teachers, and the parents of the children were held to a higher account then, and only then, will things change. You live in a city that is, and has been, run by tax and spend liberals, and yet you still see the problem as a federal problem! I'd say look at the school board in your community.

My community is Republican. My kids go to one of the highest ranked public school systems in the nation. They are both straight A students on the high honor roll. I credit the school board for their overwhelming support of the kids, the teachers, and the individual schools for the success of Point Pleasant's schools. They are all Republican. Every single one of them.

Oh, and we not only spend more than all of Europe combinded for our national school system, we also spend three times more per child in these fucked up schools of ours! Think more money is gonna help that situation out? Think that money is gonna go to hireing more teachers? Uhhhh, nope.

Then the President should follow the Constitution (remember that piece of paper?) and declare it. Congress will not declare it, so we have the GOP perverting the Law and the Vision of the Framers. Friggin' unpatriotic right wing loonies like them would be much more at home in North Korea...
