I think that people overvalue the whole VH crew, whether with Dave, Sammy, or Gary.
I think there are at least ten, maybe twenty, old and new hard rock bands whose work both on record and live put VH to shame. Sure, in his early days, Eddie could create some guitar solos that no one else had ever thought of. But I don't think he has that spark anymore, and from the beginning VH's body of work was marked by a lack of soul throughout.
