What does "M.O.W.A.T." initialize?

Man Of Wealth And Taste -- as in "Please allow me to introduce myself"

People over at Shidoobee just shortened it to MOWAT - makes for easier typing. LOL

next question

who the freak is that girl with the chest who keeps ripping the purple t shirt?

have you any idea how many lost hours of sleep i've had watching this?

Theres quite a few others in this thread in the same category. Big Country? boomtown rats?

Works both ways of course....

The Grateful Dead were technically a one hit wonder over here....

And in the US, too.

But they still managed to eke out a living...
26th January 2008 09:13 PM
Gazza 'Touch of Grey' was their only hit there too? Wouldnt have known.

Still, its obviously another act lost in the translation I guess, which works both ways. That said, I think they were pretty big on the continent as far as crowd pulling goes, just not so much in the UK.

Some Pittsburgh area funkiness.

Highwire Rob First up... A Pittsburgh band:

Some other One Hit Wonders from all over space & time:

Edison Lighthouse may be a one-hit wonder, but lead singer, Tony Burrows certainly wasn't. In February 1970 he became the first (and still the only) person to appear on BBC Television's Top Of The Pops fronting three different acts in one show. Orig. BBC editing/band copy:

The YouTube msg postings on this one are really cool...

I guess Michael Penn had a couple of tracks floating around the charts in the 1990's but I still dig this one:

Okay, I'm Done!

Hey were you at the VL show when they opened up for the Stones a Three Rivers Stadium. Man, I felt sorry for those guys.

The review in The Post-Gazette the next day was titled "The world's worst rock and roll band opens up for the world's greatest rock and roll band."

At least we got Pearl Jam last time.

No. Casey Jones, Truckin, and Alabama Getaway all hit the charts and these and many others were FM staples throughout the 70's....

Gazza Thanks. Have to say I cant have imagined they wouldnt have had a few hit singles.

Cheers for the Michael Penn video, robpop. Excellent song. Havent heard that in a while.

guitarman53 Robpop loved that video of Buffalo Springfield at Monterey Pop, but actually they had several other hits, "Mr. Soul" which has the satisfaction guitar riff was big, Neil Young song, also Bluebird/Rock 'N' Roll Woman/ Expecting To Fly & On The Way Home, but not as big hit as "For What It's Worth".

open-g Re. Nena - it's probably right to say "one-hit-wonder" from an international point of view, but she's still producing and going strong in Germany.

btw, 99 Red Ballons and this song "Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann" (ANYTIME, ANY PLACE, ANYWHERE) was written by our guitarist Carlo Karges, who died in 2002.
It got covered by a few bands and Carlo had to listen and aprove the cover versions.
I recall listening to some Hip-Hop version from L.A.
that was dreadfull butchering job, but of course they where allowed to do it - well, because of the cash

Nena - Kim Wilde : anyplace, anywhere, anytime

This is her german home page and it opens with a cover of She's Like A Rainbow
