I think that its the most overrated albums of all time.

It appears on "Greatest Lists" without anybody actually thinking why.

Its inferior to Sticky Fingers and Some Girls by quite some way in my opinion

In your opinion, how is it "inferior" to SF and SG?
January 19th, 2006 10:22 AM
Voodoo Scrounge By sheer weight of great songs

Exile Boasts only two or three (IMO)
whereas Some Girls and Sticky Fingers has a lot more strength in depth.

I think the stones themselves have stated this on a few occasions

I see what you mean, but IMO , Exile's strengths are in how the songs sit together, and the concept and "feel" of the album make it a miraculous entity. SF has better songs, but Exile is still a better album.
January 19th, 2006 10:28 AM
Voodoo Scrounge I dont see how you can say that.

Are you implying that I could release an album of mediocre songs, but have it classed as a classic because they "sit" together well and "feel" good?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Many Stones fans OVERRATE Exile, yet it's UNDERRATED by music critics and the majority of the music buying public.

Mr Scrounge, yes it appears on these "Greatest lists" and so it should. It should be ranked much higher than it generally is, as should the likes of Sticky Fingers and Some Girls. Both of which are superior to Exile in my opinion.

Voodoo Scrounge I dont deny its place on these list. I just think that todays generation of critics dont bother listening to the Stones anymore and just assume that it deserves to be there.

Its like, How do you know who won the 1914-18 war? Because your parents told you.
They assume it deserves to be there as a classic because previous generations say its the best.

Fuck me, Dirty Work is better than some of the shit on that list!

Assumptions or not, it's there and rightly so. I really don't see what the problem is. It isn't as if its constant inclusion isn't explained. You are right to an extent. Certainly, Exile On Main Street carries a certain amount of baggage and because of that, some would consider it enough to warrant it's placing alone

Joey " Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here "

I HIGHLY recommend purchasing THIS disc ........

Honky Tonk Man Actually, I'm a little confused!

Are these records that Jair has bought and he regrets so? Or, are these records he's about to buy?

There are a couple of good records there!
