Mel Belli In no particular order:

1. a) An AFC team will win the Super Bowl: a no-brainer; b) the Pittsburgh Steelers will win the Super Bowl.
2. a.) U2 tour will outgross the Rolling Stones in the U.S. (And astute observers will notice that over the last 15 years, the Stones have had to work harder and harder, play in fewer and fewer cities, and charge more and more to come out on top in the States.); b) the Rolling Stones will announce plans to finally play the Chinese mainland.
3. Jordanian scumbag Abu Musab al-Zarqawi will be captured or killed, but Osama bin Laden will remain at large.
4. After a lengthy trial, countless delays, and wall-to-wall media coverage, Michael Jackson will be found guilty of child molestation. He will be sentenced to 8-15 years in prison.
5. a) The Rolling Stones will release their first studio album in nearly eight years. A few critics will pounce, but most will review it warmly, with a few requisite caveats about age, ill-advised experiments by Mick, and singing by Keith; b) I will buy it, love it for six months and decide I only like a third of it by 2006.
6. The final "Star Wars" prequel will easily gross $300 million worldwide - and suck. Smart people will finally realize that George Lucas is a mediocre filmmaker.
7. a) Jamie Foxx will win best actor Oscar for "Ray"; b) Marty Scorsese will be nominated again, and lose again, for "The Aviator"; c) "Sideways" will garner a bunch of nominations but will only win for best adapted screenplay; d) Clint Eastwood and "Million Dollar Baby" will win the big prizes (best director and picture); and e) critics will note that the most popular movies of 2004 were animated, outwardly mourning (but secretly reveling in) the gulf between best-picture nominees and average moviegoers.
8. There will be no terrorist attacks, major or minor, in the U.S.
9. a) Ronnie Wood will contribute even less onstage than in 2002-'03; b) Mick Taylor will play the odd show in Western Europe, gain weight, and not receive a call from the Rolling Stones; c) Mick Jagger will *not* father a child; and d) it will emerge that Keith Richards has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous sessions.
10. Mel Belli will post more on Rocks Off Message Board in 2005 than in 2004.

Happy New Year!

Ten Thousand Motels > Everytime you turn on the TV some talking head will be commenting on the Jacko child molestation case. The entire country (USA) will be talking about the case every day, from when it starts until when it ends. The Jacko case will become a media obsession.

glencar Let's hope #10 comes true. As for Jamie Foxx gaining an Oscar for "Ray" I'm surprised he's not mentioned more for "Collateral" except as Supporting. He's onscreen more than Tom Gay Cruise.

What's to talk about? It's mostly hearsay & cirCUMstantial evidence. Case closed!

Well that may well be true but that won't stop the media obsessing about it. No cameras in the courtroom I hope.

Ten Thousand Motels Damn, it's really hard for most people to predict anything with any certainty. That's why we have professional astrologers.

nankerphelge "a cesspool of lovable delinquents"

That's good!

"What's to talk about? It's mostly hearsay & cirCUMstantial evidence."

First off, circumstantial evidence is not "bad" evidence. People use that term as if circumstantial evidence is useless. It is not -- in fact, a good chunk of evidence in almost any trial is circumstantial, mainly because the other form of evidence -- "direct" evidence or eyewitness testimony -- is often not available. Much of the case against Jackson will not be hearsay or circumstantial, but rather direct testimony from the accuser about what Michael did to him. Whether a jury believes the accuser is another matter -- however cirCUMstantial evidence such as the jam-laced fingerprints of Jacko and the accuser on porno mags will bolster the prosecution's case.
