use eac (or xACT if on a mac) and rip the CD to your hard drive - you with end up with 16bit 44.1 kHz WAV files...

rename the files (optional - but so convenient, esp. if it is a multiple disc set)

band_abbryyyy-mm-dddisc_numbertrack_number

so disc 2 track 3 of a rolling stone performance on may 10, 2005 would be...

rs2005-05-10d2t03.wav (it is important to use 0x for the first nine tracks)....

use md5summer (or xACT) to make fingerprints of the WAV files...

then you would use LOSSLESS compression to make the WAV files smaller. Use the Flac frontend (or xACT on a mac) to compress the WAVs...

now you have a series of FLAC files named something like rs2005-05-10d2t03.flac

put them all in a folder, named something like rs2005-05-10.slac16 (the 16 is for 16 bit)...

in the folder make a txt file explaining what you did and what the set is, etc...

also use md5summer (or xACT) to make fingerprint files of the FLACs. put these fingerprint files, and the WAV md5 file in the folder. include artwork, too. there should be no subdirectories (if you named the files properly, there is no need)...

then use torrentspy - drop the folder in the window, enter the bit torrent site tracker URL, and make the torrent file. then upload the resultant *.torrent file to a tracker...

then connect to that tracker using the *.torrent file you made, and point the client (ABC, Azerus) to the directory where the FLACfolder is, and by doing so - you are a seed. now everybody else that connects to that tracker, using the same *.torrent file you made will download the files from you, and from eachother...

i hope this helps...

cabledogg2 Hey Mac , What is the difference or advantage of a trackerless bit torrent vs one with a tracker?

the main tracker site at this point is ezt. the problem is that alot of people who want to get in cannot because they cap the memberships...

the advantage to a a distributed tracker is that it is set up by the seeder and open to all who want it. also, if you dont have to set up a tracker, you dont need the website to run python, mysql, php, etc - and that was a seemingly big stumbling block here, so not needing a tracker alleviates that issue altogether...

mac_daddy dig this...

it looks like the bit torrent developers are about to release a search engine in two weeks - that means you will be able to search ALL trackers for the content you are seeking. wonderful!!!

now all we need to do is make a page to index all the stones torrents (and that is project is almost done, too )...

Will this work in a trackerless environment?

Is this significantly different from the current bit torrent search sites? I recall some were posted when EZT went down.

yes - this is a search engine written by the same guy who actually wrote the bit torrent code. so this one will actually work, and not just be some sort of an open bulletin board...

J.J.Flash Fellow colleagues of the Torrent Gospel......

Jay desperately needs some worthy advice on torrent sources for Cream's classic live performances circa 1968. I've found something lately at Dime, but nothing I was looking for.

Daddy, Charlotte, JPenn, anyone?!?

Please, your help is much appreciated.

charlotte Cream Remasters 20 Cd Set (FLAC)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heres the 20CD set of cream remasters. Be warned it is very big. Totals 6.38GB.
For that you get some of the greatest performances from one of the greatest Rock/Blues bands in history. Some of the performances are staggering.

Im not sure of the name of the guy who remastered them but his site is here
http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/ with info on these bootlegs here http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cr...heremasters.htm
Im pretty sure the guy who runs the site also remastered them.

The total set is actually 24CD's. I haven't included the final 4 CD's. These are from the farewell tour and aren't generally seen to be great performances. I know i have one of them around somewhere and i think i might also have the other one. If i find them ill post them at a later date. Your not missing much really.

These flac files are taken from his original remasters which i believe are sent out on CD-R direct from him. So lineage is Bootleg CDR->EAC->Wav->Flac

charlotte Mac, to help out with broadband width for RO do you think you can use my server space

Any web server will do, but you must associate the extension .torrent with the mimetype application/x-bittorrent . You should ask your web server's administrator to set it up.

If you are the web server administrator, either add the line

AddType application/x-bittorrent .torrent

To httpd.conf , or

application/x-bittorrent .torrent

to mime.types .

I have added these extensions to my web server...

many thanks.

i have done all that when i set my tracker from home, years ago, when bram first wrote the program, and i was seeding all that jerry band stuff...

the snafu was getting it all up on the ro domain, but now with the distributed tracker-enabled bit torrent upon us, there is no need - so i think it is moving to a master index type thing, which will be sweet to have all the stones-related torrents in one place. maybe we can have vine signups for each torrent somewhere in there, as well, so we dont leave the bandwidth-challenged amongst us out of the loop...

but hell yeah - if you can torrent to your server, and then open the bandwidth to share, that would be very helpful getting some of these sources seeded up... as soon as the page becomes a reality, we can start flooding cyberspace with the stuff, finaly in some sort of organized fashion for the community

i like the idea of seeding outside of ezt only because so many people seem locked out of there, due to the membership cap (i got in there early, and have been going back often ever since ). hopefully this ro torrent page(s) will become a central place to keep track of all the stones torrenting that goes on in various corners of cyberspace...

to quote our buddy maxL:

"it's coming!"
