Said to be "an above average audience recording." This CD title is lifted from an LP title of the same show, but I don't know if the recording is the same. So, no SBD from 1981-10-11 exists... up to now.
Gonzalo
P.S: Ohhhh I see, you are wrong about the MRD8 SBD of Oct. 11, actually this show was from Oct. 09. MDR8 misdated the torrent as Oct. 11.
I guess you missed the whole thread about this on Dime.
------------- START ----------------
[Moderator note] This torrent was misdated October 11, 1981 (1981-10-11). It is actually the October 9, 1981 show (1981-10-09). The torrent name has been edited accordingly. [end moderator note].
#1772015 by craig62 at 2007-04-28 00:39:45 GMT
The date is wrong on this; this is the October 9, 1981 show. I'm pretty sure a soundboard of the October 11 show does not circulate. I was at the October 9 show, and Satisfaction was not played, but it was played at the October 11 show.
I downloaded this fileset when it was uploaded on DIME by ademotte on March 5, 2006. It is the same show found on the Never Too Old To Rock And Roll (DAC-011) boot.
Listen to the very end of Street Fighting Man in this torrent where Mick says "See you tomorrow...no, Sunday, isn't it?". October 11, 1981 was a Sunday; this is a torrent of the Friday, October 9, 1981 show.
From craig62 at 2007-04-28 00:49:25 GMT
Hi Gonzalo,
The track list provided in this torrent is correct; the date on it is wrong. It was misdated when it was seeded on Rocks Off, then it was uploaded on DIME with the same incorrect date. See my comment in the thread (#1772015).
Here is the comment I posted when ademotte uploaded it on DIME about a year ago:
The Stones played two shows at the Coliseum - October 9 and October 11. I went to the first show, and the two things I remember most about it are: 1. opening act Prince being booed off the stage, and 2. the Stones didn't play Satisfaction, which greatly upset a couple of the people I went to the show with. They did play Satisfaction at the October 11 show; see .
I have the Dog n Cat boot Never Too Old To Rock And Roll, which is purportedly from October 9 (though you can never trust the bootleggers to be accurate), and I compared the band introduction track from it, and from this torrent - they are identical. Further proof is found at the very end of Street Fighting Man in this torrent where Mick says "See you tomorrow...no, Sunday, isn't it?" October 11, 1981 was a Sunday.
This is a torrent of the Friday, October 9, 1981 show.
Regards,
Craig
In comment #1772031 mommystop wrote something like this:
So what is the difference between this one and the one that was uploaded yesterday by the same person? Thanks.
#1774736 by EasyMusic at 2007-04-29 13:54:48 GMT
The differences are (nearly) the same:
Both shows are mono, both are lossless.
144447 is rip from silver DAC-011, all tracks are normalized to same max pk level,
and all tracks are a tiny bit longer (0.02s) perhaps due pitch-correction (?).
I haven't listened to the whole, what I have heard sounds the same.. Anybody else?

P.S: Craig62 ROCKS !!!!!
Hope this help Axel.

Will Rogers Auditorium, Fort Worth, TX - July 18th, 1978: Introduction, Let It Rock, Miss You, Just My Imagination, Respectable, Far Away Eyes, Tumbling Dice
Mid-South Auditorium, Memphis, TN - June 28th, 1978: Hound Dog
Reviews:
Finally Vintage Masters Premium issued Can't Forget The Motor City on a nice silver release. This too contains the complete tape but the label include bonus material from the old Handsome Girls box set to fill out the second disc.
This is an excellent and well balanced professional recording on par with the quality of other recordings from the DIR and Wolfgang's Vault. Can't Forget The Motor City, compared to Keeping It Simple, sound a bit more compressed but has more clarity and punch in the lower end. Determining which one might be better is dependent only upon one's preference.
Does anybody have this one ?
It would be an upgrade to GTRM's lossy torrent.
All the best,
Gonzalo

REVIEW:
The first two discs on this new release from Dog N Cat covers the November 24th Chicago gig at the Rosemont Horizon. Vinyl Gang released an audience recording of this same gig earlier in the year on In The Windy City (VGP-371) coupled with the Atlanta Fox Theater show on the same tour. Sweet Home Chicago 1981 utilizes the newly released excellent soundboard. Just like the Seattle and San Francisco boards there are some cuts in the tape, but this one has a big twenty minute cut right in the middle, beginning at 2:05 in "Time Is On My Side" and ending at 1:40 in "You Can't Always Get What You Want" where the soundboard picks up again. The beginning of the tape is also absent. The very good sounding audience recording is used for the mc (no "Take The A Train" in this show) and the first ninty seconds of "Under My Thumb" and for the big gap in the middle. The sonic difference doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the show, however, and the manufacturers did a phenomenal job with the seamless edits.
The concert itself is very spirited and perhaps one of the best from this tour. Spending several days in Chicago seems to have fired up the band. The opening numbers are delivered at a frightening pace and it never lets up. The set is graced with the addition of "Going To A Go-Go" (absent from the earlier sets). Bluesman Sugar Blue crashes the proceedings and reprises his harmonica in "Miss You" to the delight of the band. And this is one show where the horn section is really enjoyable, especially in "You Can't Always Get What You Want". The third disc of this set contains the soundboard of the often released November 22nd Checkerboard Lounge set with Muddy Waters. It's a treat to hear the band jamming with the blues legend. The interplay between Muddy and Mick and Keith is pure magic! The only problem here is that only about half of the set is included. Why the entire set wasn't included is a mystery and the only negative against this title. This oversight aside Sweet Home Chicago 1981 is definitely worth having. |
