Well, I think they ruin their recordings with their EQ work. Not at every release, but at many of them.
Also... they never come up with anything new, they just copy VGP CDs or torrents...after butchering it with EQ. Way too much treble. And when they do this mixing and hiss-removing, they take away some of the life in the recording...sounds un-natural.
Also; spellingerrors, poor artwork, a promise of being "taken directly from the master tape"...which is a lie.
But some of their CDs are OK, but nothing more than that. Their Seattle 1975 release is an example of an OK one. ALlthough I prefer DAC's release

Ok, but i thinks that this problem is with more labels
Not alone with sodd
yes the artwork is not the best

Yes, you are right about that. |

Where did they (=SODD) copied their releases of the Spanish 2007 shows? |

Yes, I forgot about them... they were quite useful
The ABB 2007 releases are the only SODD releases that actually contains new recordings.
The person who recorded it, sent the tapes to SODD, before/instead of circulating them.
So SODD was lucky with those ones

dont get me started on "remastered" recordings, but suffice it to say - they are an bane on our (stones collectors) existence. the remastering is one of the main reasons collecting stones stuff is such a pain in the a$$. and these remixes, etc. are just an absolute waste. what should be happening is that the master tapes be played on topnotch equipment, and properly transferred to digital. this doesnt happen - look at all the folks who think burning cds from mp3 is ok in practice, and then those cds get ripped and seeded all over again. the only thing i have come up with, is to pay attention to the labels that do NOT remix, or if they do remix, they have a pretty decent sonic track record. but they ALL have artifacts (if you know what to listen for) and each time a source is put into the remix/remaster machine, it comes out worse for wear. such is the life of a stones collector.

Well, these guys donīt know how to REMASTER.They do it with
computer programs, which makes them sound phony,"boomy",and very faked recordings.
For example, they reduse bass,to cutt off hiss, well it doesnīt work that,in fact that increases hiss....
They never got it right, not even mickboy.
One reason is,a computerised sound,is also phony,wrong,not
NATURAL.Also speakers connected to computer, isnīt the best
way to listen remastering, this again, gives completetly wrong sound.
I remaster ALL my stuff, but i have very expensive stereos,
and speakers, plus the equalizer is 15years old.So it is
ANALOG,very old way.I have that nakamichi tapedeck in between. With that i can balance channels,if necessary. Then
i donīt have to touch standalone burner...
Iīve said this once, but to me,whatever music youīre listening. It must sound, like the band is with me in this
room,at this moment,when iīm remastering Bern-73 shows...
not much mastering to do,but i donīt like Pc,cdrīs,i use the ones for stanalone burner.
So,analog way, thats the only way to do remastering. |

Hi,
I'm searching for the "Let It Bleed - 40 Years Of The Rolling Stones" documentary (one of the best I've seen). I had it on vhs from the original broadcast on Arte TV but I lost the tape while moving home (shame on me).
I know it exists as a 3 DVDs set. If one can seed it I would appreciate but I think it will take ages to finish if there's only one seeder.
Maybe someone has a divx version of the documentary that he could put somewhere for me (there's a version on eMule but it's in German and I don't understand it)?
I'm currently subscribed on RapidShare.
If somebody can help...
Thanx in advance

Has anyone gotten the Buffalo 78 show to start downloading?
It looks like there is a seeder.

It looks like we've got a seeder on the tracker page, but my client (utorrent)shows no seed & 10 peers, & we're all @ 0%, so something is amiss.
Patience is needed here I believe, Mrs V. is out of the house so let's crank up Cleveland in the meantime.... |

Mickboy did his stuff analog, too. Not PC. I still prefer his mixes compared to the ofiicial ones. |

Here's my artwork for Cleveland '78. I was in a quandry whether to modify the VGP or Rim Shot versions, but I thought I'd better be nice so I went for the S.I.C. instead.

Mickboy's remaster of EXILE is by far and beyond his best work and much better than any official CD version of this classic ! |
