This story speaks volumes about the tabloid press in England.

An emotionally and physically fragile woman who's husband is in prison and who is living on her own hears a disturbance outside her house at 6 am which wakes her up, throws on a few clothes to go out to investigate it, and even though its pitch black outside, she finds an army of paparazzi camped in front of her home taking photos.

Of course, the "underwear" becomes the story and not the 24-hour press harassment.

Scum.

I was meant to be going to see her tonight, too.

Agree..she is like a modern day Keith, except way too fragile. I hope she makes it.

Honky Tonk Man In agreement with Gazza. I've said some harsh things about her on these boards, yet I can't imagene what it must be like for her and those who are family and freinds.

The press unforunatley don't know when enough is enough.

Despite what many think, it IS the same with Doherty as well.

Was this the picture? Some tabloids claim it looks like she has some leftover coke on her nose.

well, she has only 2 albums.

out of 10*, I 'd rate:

3* maybe 4* for the first album "Frank"

10* for "Back to Black".

If you like Tears Dry On Their Own - get Back To Black.
you won't regret it.

FWIW - Amy Whinehouse, + album, +song, +producer have been nomenated in 7 categorys at the Grammy Awards.
if I counted 'em right

I don't know which specific track you were listening to, stonedinaustralia, the Motown feel is on many of her songs, but I actually love her first album MORE than her second one, which is more commercial. My favourite song on "Frank" is "I heard Love is Blind", the lyrics are very funny, they alaways make me smile....

I couldn't resist him
His eyes were like yours
His hair was exactly the shade of brown
He's just not as tall, but I couldn't tell
It was dark and I was lying down

You are everything – he means nothing to me
I can't even remember his name
Why're you so upset?
Baby, you weren't there and I was thinking of you when I came

What do you expect?
You left me here alone; I drank so much and needed to touch
Don't overreact – I pretended he was you
You wouldn't want me to be lonely

How can I put it so you understand?
I didn't let him hold my hand
But he looked like you; I guess he looked like you
No he wasn't you
But you can still trust me, this ain't infidelity
It's not cheating; you were on my mind

Yes he looked like you
But I heard love is blind…

I recommend them both!

Gazza 'Frank' is pretty good, but it doesnt have the big production that 'Back To Black' has.

'Back to black' has just been reissued with bonus tracks I think, including her cover of the Zutons' "Valerie". Gorgeous album.

Yeah, but when you're snorting blow, you have to check for white rings with a little water before you go out in public. Once back at college a buddy met with his faculty advisor with a huge one around each nostril. We practically pissed ourselves laughing when he got back to the dorm!

You're right about "big production" but Frank IMO is actually overproduced.
too many studio gimmicks, fx, samples, hip-hop elements and loose ends.

Back To Black a big, but tight production, more band orientated
thanks to the DAP-Kings who can also pull those studio recordings off on stage.
I haven't been blown away by an album like this for many, many years.

Perhaps I should let Mark Ronson produce my arse, so people liked it better, no???? I prefer Frank, by a mile, the songs, the lyrics, the music, BUT her acoustic version of Valerie on David Letterman was fantastic, I'll grant you that....
Were you not going to see her in Dublin around now? What happened? Gig cancelled???

Was meant to see her in Belfast last Monday, but - as I'm sure you've read - the rest of the tour was cancelled last week.
