Topic: LET'S GIVE BUSH THE HEAVE HO ON TUESDAY Return to archive Page: 1 2
5th November 2006 10:24 PM
the soul survivor OK, election day is just around the corner. The following things are true beyond debate, irrespective of party affiliation:

1. Bush and his people have fucked up Iraq beyond anyone's imagination.

2. Bush and his people have fucked up New Orleans beyond anyone's imagination.

Without anything else (and there's so much more), it's time for accountability. Vote DEMOCRATIC on Tuesday and give Bush the ass kicking he deserves!

Sir Stonesalot Last time I checked...W ain't on the ticket.

Don't you get it?

It does NOT matter if we put Dems into Congress. NOTHING will change. It will be business as usual for the Bush admin. I mean, since when have they ever given a shit what Congress says?

And who says that any of these Dems are any better than what is already in there? THERE ARE NO GOOD CANDIDATES.

All the good candidates with the education and experience to do a good job would have to take a HUGE pay cut to serve in Congress. Why do public service when you can make so much more in the private sector?

So who does that leave? Idiots and career "politicians". Oh boy, what a choice.

The last few elections, it's all been about trying to pick the candidate who you think will do the least amount of damage instead of who will do the best job.

I, for one, am sick of it. Dems or Reps...it's all the same to me. Bullshit salesmen.

the soul survivor To reply:

You are working off 2 false premises:

1. It does NOT matter if we put Dems into Congress. NOTHING will change. It will be business as usual for the Bush admin. I mean, since when have they ever given a shit what Congress says?

Things will change big time if the Democrats take over 1 or both Houses of Congress. Bush will not be able to ram horeshit legislation down Congress, because it won't be approved. Bush will not be able to override Congress through refusing to enforce legislation, becaue he'll be investigated for it. If you think otherwise, then why is Bush lieing so desperately now to keep control of Congress?

2. And who says that any of these Dems are any better than what is already in there? THERE ARE NO GOOD CANDIDATES.

This is a cop-out. Based on your reasoning, it does not matter who's in control. Might as well vote for Keith for Congress.

PLEASE! RETHINK!

Sir Stonesalot >Based on your reasoning, it does not matter who's in control. Might as well vote for Keith for Congress.<

I would if Keith was a US citizen, and actually ran in my district.

And no, it doesn't matter who is in control. If you think a Dem Congress will change a damn thing, it's YOU who is delusional. If W can thumb his nose at the Constitution as he does now, what makes you think that he won't thumb his nose at a Dem Congress. An investigation? You think he's afraid of an investigation? He'd wipe his ass with any investigation, and throw up so many barriers that it would never be completed by the time he leaves office anyway. A waste of taxpayer time and money. Just like the Clinton witch hunt was.

Both parties suck. They are only interested in gaining and consolidating power...they are not interested in fixing what ails the US.

Until the us vs them attitude of the political parties changes(and I don't see that changing anytime soon), it does not matter who is in control.

people were telling me that the Kerry vs Bush election was "the most important election that you will ever vote in." I said bullshit. Kerry would have made a terrible President...and Bush was already a terrible President. So what made it so damn important? Either way the American people were screwed.

I do not identify with the Dems. I do not identify with the Repubs. I'm no lefty, and I'm no right-winger either. What about the millions of us who are somewhere in the middle? Who represents us? Who can we identify with? I'll be fucked if I know...I don't see them out there.

Surely everyone here realizes you are not going to change someone's voting perspective on a Rolling Stones message board. I liken that to some of these political idiots calling my phone telling me how to vote or my myriad of weekend visitors knocking on my door telling me what church to go to.

jb Latest polls show GOP clsoing the gap to w/in a few % points. Bottom line, a weak voter turn-out does not bode well for dems. While I thought last week the House would easily go dem all bets off now. It is going to be incredibly close and we probably won't know until Thursday...If I was forced to predict, I would say senate remains republican and democrats take the house by 3 votes.
