UGot2Rollme just saw a posting on another website that indicated Robert Palmer (the singer) had died in Paris today, of a heart attack at age 54.

I'm going to go home, have a shot of Jack, and put on my "Sneaking Sally through the Alley" CD.

Singer Robert Palmer Dies

Singer Robert Palmer has died in Paris of a heart attack at the age of 54, his manager has said. The Yorkshire-born star was on a two-day break in the city with his partner Mary Ambrose after recording a TV appearance in the UK.

He was then due to head home to Switzerland, where he had lived for the past 16 years.

The singer was best known for his hit single Addicted To Love, which was remembered for its video which featured Palmer backed by a group of models.

Palmer, who was born in Batley on January 19, 1949, performed an eclectic range of material, fusing R&B, rock and reggae.

He worked with a number of groups and teamed with members of Duran Duran in The Power Station in the 1980s, as well as working as a solo artist.

LadyJane So many losses of late ....guess we all need to stop and realize just how precious life really is...AND how lucky we are to have the Stones alive and apparently well.

steel driving hammer All these recent deaths have to affect the Stones one way or another, they are burdensome and depressing. But the Stones have delt with alot of deaths. I'm just worried Charlie doesn't get scared and calls it quits before the next tour.

Joey In Honor of the legendary Robert Palmer's passing from this orb ......................

A salute to one of his greatest songs :

" How come he don't come and P.I.P. with me
Down at the meter no more?
And how come he turn(ed) off the t.v.
And hang(ed) that sign on the door?
Well we call and we call "How come?" we say
Hey what could make a boy behave this-a way, yeah?
And he learn(ed) all of the lines, now, and every time
He gonna s-stutter when he talks
And it's true! It's true! He sure has acquired this kinda cool and inspired sorta jazz when he walk(s)
Where's his jacket and his old blue jeans,
If this ain't healthy it is some kinda clean

That means Chuck E's in love

I don't believe what you're saying to me
This is something I got to see. Is he here?
I look in the poolhall. Is he here?
I look in the drugstore. Is he here?
No, he don't come here no more

Well I'll tell you what, I saw him
He was sittin' behind us down at the Pantages
And whatever is that he's got up his sleeve
I hope it isn't contagious
What's her name? Is that her there?
Oh Christ, I think he's even combed his hair!
And is that her? Well then what's her name?
Oh, it's never gonna be same.
That's not her
I know what's wrong
'Cause Chuck E's in love with the little girl singing this song
Don't you know
Chuck E's in love, Chuck E's in love
Chuck E's in love, Chuck E's in love ...
Chuck E's in love with me "

R.I.P. Bob

Snarky !

sirmoonie Didn't he sing Me and Coolio Down by the Schoolyard?
09-26-03 10:20 AM
nankerphelge That was Paul Simon -- who is Jewish.

When I think of Robert Palmer, I think of my father literally running to the TV to catch all the braless women in the Addicted to Love video.

I don't think my dad has ever danced in his life except to that video.

09-26-03 10:21 AM
Sir Stonesalot No Moonie, that was a different dead guy.
09-26-03 10:23 AM

Joey

The more I think of just how prodigious Robert Palmer really was , the more saddened I am by his death .

Again , a salute to the man by recognizing another one of his greatest songs :

" Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays
Always get me down

What I've got they used to call the blues
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays
Always get me down

Funny but it seems
I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny but it seems it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays
Always get me down "

Snarky !
