It's heartening to learn more and more people from other countries are getting a chance to hear A Bigger Bang in clear, perfect sound.
I was wandering around the record store today and noticed they had signs already in place advertising A Bigger Bang. Guess they, too, are preparing for the big day.
Somehow I suddenly found myself at a nearby Starbucks and, before I knew what was happening, I found myself purchasing Bob Dylan Live at The Gaslight 1962 even though I have a great bootleg version of this very same show. Can't believe I did that.
2 more days and counting. TIME is slowly ticking away

Echte Stones fans kennen nieuwe cd allang
AMSTERDAM - "Natuurlijk ga ik de cd dinsdag halen", zegt Wim van Hal, groot Stones-fan en mede-organisator van de Stones fandag op 25 september. Van Hal heeft de zestien nummers op de nieuwe plaat A Bigger Bang allang gehoord, maar hij koopt nu eenmaal "alles wat los en vast zit van de Stones" .
Dat kan SP-voorman Jan Marijnissen beamen. "Ik heb alles al van die Stones, dus die nieuwe cd ga ik wel halen." Hij heeft de nummers nog niet gehoord. Presentator en zanger Henk Westbroek wel. "Via internet is de plaat eigenlijk al weken illegaal beschikbaar als je een beetje zoekt en weet te vinden."
Hij vindt het wel lastig om een afgewogen oordeel over de nieuwe Stones-cd te geven, omdat hij de nummers slechts een aantal keer heeft gehoord, maar de kwaliteit was vrij slecht. "Toch zitten er wer een paar hele goede nummers tussen en niet een nummer maakt de indruk snel even in elkaar geflantst te zijn omdat de plaat vol moest. Jagger zingt beter dan ooit en met name Charlie Watts is weer erg op dreef."
Van Hal heeft op 25 september in Didam samen met nog een paar grote Stones-fans een fandag georganiseerd. Hij verwacht honderden fans. Dan komen er ook vier Stones-coverbandjes spelen, waaronder Undercover. Zij spelen ook een nummer van de nieuwe cd. "Die zit er al helemaal in hoor", zegt bassist Jan Lange. Hij heeft de nieuwe schijf al beluisterd via internet, maar hij is er nog niet helemaal kapot van. "Muzikaal is het erg goed, maar ik mis een beetje het vuur wat ze begin jaren '70 wel hadden."
Westbroek heeft via radio en tv al vele recensies gehoord. "Dat waren van die wijsneuzen die voor de zoveelste keer op rij vonden dat de Stones te oud, te kreukelig en te rijk zijn om eigenlijk nog rock & roll te mogen maken, maar de afgunst druipt vaak van dat soort professionele meninkjes af." Het is volgens hem "een beetje bon ton tegenwoordig om de krullenjongen het werk van de meestertimmerman te laten beoordelen".
In Amerika zijn de Stones al aan het toeren met hun nieuwe plaat. Volgend jaar zomer komen ze ook naar Nederland. Verschillende fans zijn een actie begonnen zodat het optreden niet in de Amsterdam ArenA is. De akoestiek is daar volgens de fans veel te slecht. Een 'galmbak' wordt het genoemd. Op zijn website heeft Jan Marijnissen daar ook tegen geageerd. "De ArenA vind ik helemaal niks. Maar als ik kaarten kan krijgen ga ik toch, mits ik op het veld kan staan." Daar valt het slechte geluid volgens de SP-voorman nog wel mee.
Van Hal vraagt zich af of de actie van de fans effect heeft. Via zijn website kun je een brief downloaden voor concertorganisator Mojo waarin mensen hun ongenoegen kunnen uiten. "De Stones staan er niet om bekend dat ze veel doen voor hun fans, dus ik vraag me af of het gaat werken."
Uw reacties:
Ik heb hem zelf al een week of vier maar vind hem eerlijk gezegd zwaar tegenvallen. Het album opent met rough justice en zoals je mag verwachten zou het er vanaf moeten spetteren. Helaas hebben de Stones voor zekerheid gekozen en vallen alle 16 nummers onder standaard stones muziek. Misschien dat ze te oud beginnen te worden, het te veel een verplichting wordt of ze hebben het er gemakkelijk af willen brengen. Alle Stonesfans die op iets nieuws wachten zullen bedrogen uitkomen, het is veel van hetzelfde. Maar mischien is dat wel waar het bij de Stones om draait. Je weet wat je kunt verwachten en bent verzekerd van Stones muziek. Mij kan het niet zo boeien, ik hou er van om verrast te worden

the thing that worries me a bit is that i like the album straight away.
usually, good music needs to grow on me, where
as throw away stuff (top 40), i like straight away,
but get bored with quite quickly

Glorious news for the people across the pond!!!
For them, the long wait is over and many are now in the process of intensely listening to A Bigger Bang. It may be some TIME before we hear from them again as they seclude themselves away from all unnecessary distractions.
For me, I have passed the TIME trading shots of some great Russian Vodka with my brother who is in town visiting (he is married to a Russian and lives in Russia- in addition to bringing in a fresh supply of Vodka, he also brought us some caviar along with various other necessities).
TIME continues to slowly tick away as I try to recover from a blinding hangover. It now less than 24 hours!!!
