LJ, it's times like these where we must think back to the good times to put a smile on our faces. Those that have left us have not departed our memories, our hearts, and our souls. They will be missed, but not forgotten.
My condolences and love go out to you, LJ. |

Bless you, Lady Jane. I just lost my father one month ago yesterday (he was a huge Stones fan as well - we even brought him to the Giants Stadium show last fall. His first Stones show since 1965). It was very sudden and unexpected.
So I know too well the pain of losing a parent.
You said you are doing okay, and I am glad to read that. I know no one really knows me here since I rarely post, but I do check in and read the boards every day. LJ you are one of my favorite posters. I think you are from upstate NY - I am as well.
Bless you and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you everyone.
Your posts, phone calls, emails and PM's are so comforting.
First night of my life that Mom and Dad are gone.
Strange feeling.....howe can one feel like an orphan in their mid 40's?
I may not have Brothers or Sisters in the traditional sense, but I know I have my Stonesian Brothers and Sisters to lean on.
Bless you.

My deepest condolences for your loss. I understand that your father had dementia. My dad is also afflicted with Alzheimer's, so I know about the "long goodbye." From your description, he passed peacefully and is reunited with your beloved mother. Cheer him on his way.

LJ, Here is a poem that always cheers me up when I think about my mother's death. I hope it can do the same for you.
Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there.I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
once again, all the best. You seem like a very strong person. |

Paula, my most sincere condolences for this sad news, sometimes life is a bitch. I lost my parents more than 20 years ago (1983 and 1986) and the more you grow up the more you love them and appreciate what they did for you.
I'm sure you're strong enough to surpass this.
Love ya! |

Paula,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for calling to let me know this has happened. I would not have caught it otherwise.
I just couldn't call back last night...the news stirred up feelings about my own Father's recent passing....and it also quickly got too late to call. I KNEW though (had a feeling) when I saw you'd phoned that your Father had maybe passed.
I know you are relieved that he no longer suffers. He is at peace. I hope that is bringing you much comfort in spite of the profoundness of the loss.
My sponsor told me she felt like an orphan when her Mother passed (her Father went first) and she was in her Fifties. I think this is a normal thing to feel....and I wish I could put my arms around you right now hug you cry and laugh with you to show you that I care and I love you dearly sister.
You are strong and wise.....and QUEEN of this board. Please lean on all of us.
You are VERY cherished my dear.
With deep sympathy and love,
Martha and Chris |

Okay....I need to lean.
I'm not ready to do this again.
I'm not ready to stand for 4 hours and greet people. I just want to hide in a corner and cry.
Martha...you say the kindest things. All of you think I'm so strong...today will be a huge test.
I've got 8 hours to prepare for this strange ritual known as a Wake.
All I know is...when it's my time....just blast the Stones, pass the spliffs and set up a bar....top shelf, naturally.
Send me good wishes, gang. I know you can and I know I'll feel your strength.
thanks.

Oh Paula, this is such sad news. My deepest condolences. I thought this was another goofy Joshy thing & now I see howe much I wish it was. Today will be rough but you are pretty strong & you'll get through it. One step at a time. Again, my deepest condolences, dear. |
