Look at the Billboard Hot 100, 3-4 rock songs on the complete Top 100, 6-7 country songs, 10-11 pop songs and 80 rap tunes including the whole Top 10 with Usher being #1 for 20 weeks with 3 different songs...

Velvet Revolver? They are #60-70 and is the #1 Rock song on US...

It's a good level to see the state of the current music. If you look 3-4 rock songs on the Hot 100 and 80 rap songs...
Now I look at 1994 and I see full of rock: Stones, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Guns And Roses, Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, Counting Crows, Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins, ant the list goes...
And now?
Velvet Revolver, Jet, 2-3 more and nothing else.

Was going elsewhere 10 years ago so nothing has changed for me. As long as there are bands willing to tour in and Econoline vans, rock will be ok.

Happy Motherfucker!! Rock is far from being dead, if fact, it will always be around. The problem is the fucking radio, as nothing but crap fills the airwaves, but there is plenty of great R & R out there, you just gotta look for it. It still fills smokey bars every single night!

beer Everyone knows that true RocknRoll died when Journey and Hall And Oates broke up. Little Oates pretty much invented RocknRoll.

Honky Tonk Man Rock is dead?

Err,no it isn't!

There is a little English band called The Libertines.

With Guitarist vocalist and songwriter Pete Doherty, they have the most fucked up British rock star since Sid Vicious!

Yeah. Who cares that much about commercial radio?...Which seems to be the measure that the naysayers are using.

Sir Stonesalot Rock and Roll is not dead as long as there is breath in the lungs of the man who wrote this:

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue
and into the black
You pay for this,
but they give you that
And once you're gone,
you can't come back
When you're out of the blue
and into the black.

The king is gone
but he's not forgotten
Is this the story
of Johnny Rotten?
It's better to burn out
'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone
but he's not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.

DADDY DON'T LIVE IN THAT NEW YORK CITY NO MORE

Daddy don't live in that New York City
No more
He don't celebrate Sunday on a Saturday night
No more
Daddy don't need no lock and key
For the piece he stowed
Out on Avenue D
Daddy don't live in that New York City
No more .....................

Daddy don't drive in that Eldorado
No more
He don't travel on down to the neighborhood
Liquor store
Lucy still loves her coke and rum
But she sits alone
'Cause her daddy can't come
Daddy don't drive in that Eldorado
No more .....................................

Driving like a fool out to Hackensack
Drinking his dinner from a paper sack
He says I gotta see a joker
And I'll be right back

Daddy don't live in that New York City
No more
He can't get tight every night
Pass out on the barroom floor
Daddy can't get no fine cigar
But we know you're smoking
Wherever you are
Daddy don't live in that New York City
No more ..........................................

NO MORE !!!! .................................

Sir Stonesalot You know, now that I think about it...Rock is pretty much dead. And I can't say I'm all that sorry about it. I mean look at the big Rock acts...Aerosmith...yuck. Van Hagar...yuck. Velvet Revolver? Well, if they last long enough to make a couple more albums...maybe, but given the track record of the various members, I don't see it happening. AC/DC...good nostalgia. Metallica...yuck. Nobody really takes bands like Kiss or Poison seriously anymore, do they? I didn't think so. StyxRushJourneyREOLoverboyForiegnerAsia....all dead, thank God. But you can hang your hat on The Darkness for now. There's the rockist's shining light. Of course they are mostly considered as a novelty act...but Rock none the less. Too bad they'll be gone soon too. Yeah, Rock is dead.

Thank God Rock and Roll is still healthy and vibrant though!

Wanna see and hear some Rock n Roll? Randall's Island, NYC, Aug 14th, 11AM-11PM. Or North Star Bar, Philly, July 23rd, 8PM. Or buy anything on Sympathy For The Recording Industry.

Wrong again, Pancake Face!

Baby Steelie regrets to announce that the BBQ Grill is set to self destruct on or around July 23, depending on when Novogate collapses it because I won't be paying my bill.

So you had better get it while you can.
