He is passing a cigarette to Keith and Keith has the funniest expression on his
face! They are in Green Park sitting on a bench, you have seen those GP pictures
before but this one will blow you away!!

4th May 2007 12:41 AM
GhostofBrianJones It is in the thread that says about the "Polaraids" and etc.
It is a long one but has the word Polaroids in it. Maybe someone else can describe it better than me. That picture
of Brian is just breathtaking!!

GhostofBrianJones Hi Sophia! How are you doing? Good to hear from you! And all the other here
as well of course!

That last picture with the Stones and the girl smoking, check out the way
she has that cigarette in her mouth. I never saw a smoker hold a cigarette
(they called them fags in the Sixties, and in the US at the time gays were called
"fags" here so it was a little strange) that way. Maybe she was smoking just to
be with the Stones and look cool like many of us thought it was back then.
My Dad smoked, I tried it and well the rest is history.
6th May 2007 02:49 PM
Olivia1962 Does anyone know what brand of cigarettes Brian smoked?
6th May 2007 05:23 PM
Philip I'm sure these will be of interest to everyone here!

This is quotes about Brian taken from a great six part radio documentary hosted by Alexis Korner.

You can download the whole 6 documentaries over at the IORR buy/sell/trade forum.

It's so much better to hear the people themselves talk, as opposed to reading edited and twisted versions of what they say in books etc.

GhostofBrianJones Brian smoked KENT cigarettes. I tried one and they are so mild I could not
really taste it. I smoke menthol and could not taste the one I was offered.
Must be really mild. Otherwise I don't know what other cigarettes he smoked
unless they were from the UK when he was at home.

Thanks Philip will check that information out.

LOVE TO S&K!!

GhostofBrianJones Whoa I listened to all of them. You can tell they want to say much more but
cannot. I don't agree with Brian's father, it was much, much more than that.
Like losing your girlfriend to a bandmate maybe? And knowing you are losing
your band at the same time and various other things. Kinda have to "hear"
between the words. Thanks Philip.

That's just how his Dad saw it! It's good to not read too much in to quotes sometimes and just accept them as that person's experience/perspective.

Assuming he means Anita, there's no denying that the events of Feb/March 1967 had a big effect on Brian and his future in the band.

I think the interviews are from circa 1974 or there abouts.

now some pics to keep things on track.

sorry for the crappy quality of this one...

Bruno I´ve got a question: look at Mick´s pants. I´ve seen them on Mick (Gimme Shelter), on Keith (Circus) and on Charlie (MSG backstage, the Jimmi Hendrix footage). Is it possible? Are the same pants? Did they buy together or something?

GhostofBrianJones I would think the pants are very similar but not the same pants, I can't picture
them passing each other's pants around when they have the money to buy
them themselves. I did see somewhere where Mick had on very similar velvet
pants that Brian had on in RNR Circus but I doubt they were the same ones.

Those great pictures thanks Philip.

ooooh dear christ...this was ever one of my mooost favorites of the whole band together... look how brian is wearing his trousers..so perfect and good looking. i love the pants hes wearing in this pic. the whole pose of brian is amazing..of the rest as well.. i think they express all their kind of personalities a bit... like how charlie is way in the back.. looking a bit shy but very ballanced.
thanks s&k for posting such a big and good quality version of it!!!

love you all! and hey linda, i am fine.. i dont know if i told yet..got my really good new camera...digital slr. taking photos is so much fun with it. i am recording new songs with my band and we get to play in london soon. alot of more things that go on well... how are you, dear?
love!!

GhostofBrianJones That is wonderful Sophia! I am so delighted you are happy
with your new camera and your new band. Maybe someday you
will open for The Stones? Interesting thought anyway.

Appreciate the discussion Philip it is always good to hear
and learn what others think and really know about the people
who were close to Brian and have a knowledgeable opinion.
I am just stating my own humble opinion in these matters.

I first noticed those Tight red cordoury pants on BJ on
the High Tide and Green Grass album. Yahoowee are they tight!
Anyway that is one of the pictures that really drew me to
him when I was a teenager. Remember the one where he is in
the same clothes sitting on that stool holding his guitar
and making that weird face? If he had been smiling it would
have been better maybe? That is an unusual picture, do you
think?

I need the instructions again on how to upload pictures on
this forum. I had them but somehow they got lost. If it is
too complicated I can't do it. Of course maybe it is not
complicated how do I know anyway. Remember I have Mac.

LOVE TO S&K!!
