Factory Girl
Please review... I need your esteemed opinions. TIA!

polytoxic I haven't given it the full spliff and a coffee, sit down and listen treatment yet. That'll have to wait for the weekend, but I've sampled it a bit and it's certainly up to the standards of Elephant and White Blood Cells.

It's also far more polished, production-wise. That doesn't really subtract from the feel, in fact it may make it the best entry-level choice for the curious.

The title track Icky Thump, in my opinion, is the best, coolest, most rockingest thing they've done. If you like crunching power chords you'll be satisfied with it, plus the other touches to the song are pretty darn cool too. There's all the things you'd want in a White Stripes album. I mean the riffers and stompers stay true to their template, the beats are as they always were for the most part, but there are some fun diversions as well. Conquest is a weird little novelty. Part 60's James Bond ballad (like Thunderball or Goldfinger), part cumbia, part bong hit. There's a pair of homages to Jack White's Scottish heritage complete with bagpipes. And my other current favourite Rag & Bone, which is a barrel of laughs.

I've only had it for a day but my initial instinct is to highly recommend it.

Just flick a guitar pick at it and pose.

72Tele Bought it Tuesday morning, I have only listened a few times. My first impressions are very positive. I also bought "The Henchmen With Jack White". I guess this is remastered. This one I have listened to several times and really like it. I had read a interview that said they were into Chuck Berry and the Stones so no one in the Detroit music scene liked them. Its a rockin record.

glencar He was quite good last fall at the Beacon with the Stones.

pdog At this point, Jack has proven himself... He doesn't need to be reviewed, promoted or advertised. He's at the top of his game. The next 5 to 10 years everything he does is going to be good...

Gimme Shelter I listened to the whole thing twice yesterday in my car and it rocks!!!!

When both Dylan and the Stones invite you onstage to jam and Jimmy Page interviews you for Guitar World you know you're doing alright.

And then there's this bit of coolosity

Best album of the year, so far. "Effect and Cause" tickles me every time.

glencar So far it sounds like everything else they've done, which isn't necessarily a knock...

i think the sund, prodution wise it tighter, and not over produced... The writing is progressing and I hear Jack just evolving as a player and a writer... a very latino feel on some of the record... Jacks politics are leaking into the music as well... at least that's what I'm picking up on...

still bluesy style crunchy riffs, but not trad. blues in any sense... Jacks crunchy chords always remind me of Page's style... Blues w/o being bluesy... It's hard to put into words, I just know it when i hear it....
