I posted the same one over at shidoobee, but figured some of the shidoobephobes might like to read it:
OK! so Doug's promo copy arrived at our home long before he did so I had to stare at it all shrink-wrapped for hours!
It comes in a sleeve that is cheaper-feeling than the four flicks one. The outside of the 4 disk fold out has a shot of each, they're artful but not fussy. Keith is on the front, Mick on the back; charlie and ron remain hidden in the middle. disc 1+2 are charcoal blackish in color disks 3+4 are a blueish gray. The photo behind the disks is of the rio stage and massive crowd and is cool to see. The booklet has a bunch of great pics and the tracklisting and usual boilerplate.
We started with Disk 1 Austin. It's a BEAUTIFUL thing. Its a fantasy in the truest sense. The picture and sound is immaculate. However the vocal overdubbs are a little 'obvious' which makes parts look a bit like theyre badly lip-synched. Its a glittering shining theatrical perception of a show.
We jumped to Disk 4 Salt of the earth. Mr. Pitiful and Get up stand up are fuking incredible. Theyre honest gritty and beautiful. There is no gauze on the camera, no super-saturation of the colors, no overdubbs, no messing basically, although the camera work is a bit 'epileptic' (see four flicks) in places. This disk truly is a shot of salvation. Eddie is shit in his duet he's clearly logging his pants and has the most irritating vibrato through out. Bonnie Raitt fucking serves Mick! The chinese dude is good but struggles -great voice tho!
Disk 2 Rio is the same footage as the movie. Slightly less shiny-happy but still overdubbed and theatrical. The included documentary is the same one shown on national geographic.
Disk 3 is a mishmash of asia. Shiny-happy theatre returns, the song choice is poor, and theres a bit of the press conf.
Overall i'd pay $30 just for the 2 tracks from the phoenix. And NOT because theyre from the phoenix, but rather, because the show the rolling stones, gritty, ragged, honest and smiling.

How does it compare to Four Flicks?
In terms of Picture quality, camera angles, and of coarse Sound?
Do you like it as good, better, not as good?
Just curious?

Honestly, it bothered me that the Who cancelled their second show in México. And Alice Cooper. Who am I supposed to be giving my money to? Timbiriche? (Unless the women dress all sexy and give me a lap dance; that would be nice.) Listen all you foreign performers, Dylan, etc., there are people in México who want to take a look at a good music show, not to a fake rendition of The Beach Boys, or to those vanilla pussies U2. They fucking stink!
At this point, I'm happy to give my concert money to Paul McCartney! (I've nothing against him, his image or his music, and I couldn't care less if he's not "cool" - who cares about this shit anyway and why?; he should stop marrying one legged women or singing "Hey JUDEN" live, though - it's a good song, but why refrain from his wacky solo shit?, like "The Pound Is Sinking" or "Get It", or that last terrific track from "Driving Rain"? -, and "Let It Fuck" or "Yesterfuck".)
I don't have any "concert money" anyway. And if I had any I would spend it on pot. Or alcohol. Or pot. Or prostitutes.

You make Bono blush!
Nah. Seriously now: Wouldn't you rather buy a U2 video? Some of them are very good in terms of picture quality. |

lol. That's funny. Actually I always wished I had a male oriented Bono adult film. I always wondered what the old irishman was hung like you know, why not right?.... We could call it something like say "Bono's Boner" or "Bono Blows the Bone" or maybe something simple and to the point like "The Bono-Porno". Hell I don't know, that's not really asking too much is it?..................

got it yesterday, and I really like it. To me, there is some magic moments like I CAN'T BE SATISFIED, and the Phoneix numbers that are pure magic. Shit I havent seen from these guys since the seventies. The sound quality and picture blow Four Flicks out of the water. Sure there are some over dubs but who really cares. For me it works. You can hear MR Wood which I couldnt on Four Flicks. Guitars are mixed up, and horns and key boards are down low.
I highly highly recommend it, and yes I thinks even non-Stones freaks could watch this and probably enjoy some of it. They definately took more time making the sound right than Four Flicks. Song selection isnt as varied as FF, but it sounds really good. |

Its a bonus track on DVD1 from Italy...An old tune they did back in the 60's..bluesy kinda number....
I Can't Be Satisfied:
Well I'm going away to live
Won't be back no more
Going back down south, child
Lord now don't you worry ma
Woman I'm trouble
Trouble and all worried mind
Well I just can't be satisfied
Just can't keep on crying
Well I feel like snapping
Pistol in your face
Going to let some graveyard
Lord be your resting place
Woman I'm trouble
Trouble and all worried mind
Yeah i just can't be satisfied
Just can't keep on crying
Yeah
Yeah I'm all in my sleep
Hear my doorbell ring
Looking for my baby
Lord seen a doggone thing
Woman I'm trouble
Trouble and all worried mind
Yeah I just can't be satisfied
Just can't keep on crying
Yeah I know my little old babe
She gonna jump and shout
That old train be late man
Lord I come walkin out
Woman I'm trouble
Trouble and all worried mind
Yeah I just can't be satisfied
Just can't keep on crying
Well
