yeah man what a show. i nearly freaked not only when they played sway, but followed it up with far away eyes and then worried about you. a great night. loved midnight rambler, loved it all. a really great set list for this tour. |

Slavegirl |
Oh God guys, I love you all. This show was seriously out of this world. I don't know what to say...I finessed my way to the front row of the main stage and got a personal escort to the front row of the B stage as well...not trying to brag but it wasnt just the amazing set list that rocked for me...this night was almost a complete groupies dream come true!!! |
|

This IS the show of the tour! Faraway eyes - what a dream come true. Oh, i want to hear that down here. Sway! Shows they are persisting with it. Hope they spruced it up better than the 1st time. And, Worried about you? What class. What a great set.
Can i hope to dare to pray they will do at least one of these 3 in Sydney? Though, maybe Melb has more chance.

Quite a few changes from the 3 LA shows in November - which is very impressive (especially as they changed 8 songs - a record for two Stones shows in the same venue) over the 2 Hollywood Bowl shows
What I predicted basically - similar to MSG 20/1 but with a tour premiere thrown in.
'Respectable' on the b-stage is also a nice shake-up. |

man i so want to hear Worried About You

And what about Sway, how it sounded? |
|
Break The Spell |
Sway has got better each time its been played. I'm curious to hear how Far Away Eyes sounded. |
|
Gazza |
For the record, thats only the 3rd time 'Far Away Eyes' has been played since 1995
Since 1978, they played it ten times in the last 18 VL US shows in November-December 1994
Three appearances in 1995 - Adelaide, Brixton and the final night of the tour in Rotterdam (I was there! )
Only performances since (as far as I can tell) :
Nashville 26.10.97
UC, Chicago 10.9.02
Los Angeles 6.3.06 |

sway sounded so much better than i was expecting...
and it sounded alot better than the first time this tour/ever (of which i have heard a recording)...
they nailed far away eyes, too...
through the b stage, the band was smoking hot. the warhorses post b-stage were hot, too. terrific performance...

on the bstage, mick said, btwn songs "gimme lil drink" as he was looking for water. for a sec, i thought loving cup was coming...
right when the bstage landed, i guess it was actually at the end of miss you, when the lights go up a bit, a bunch of (presumeably) chicks tossed their pants onstage; they came from different directions and landed almost on top of eachother on the front of the stage. keef bent, picked em up, chucked 'em at charlie's kit, and flashed him one of those grins and a "brss rings" thumbs-up. charlie's eyes got all big, and he was smiling back...
lots of commraderrie (sp) tonight - mick pattin ronnie, keef leaning on mick or ronnie during a solo, keef watching bobby keys brown sugar solo, the whole way through, grinin'. mick going side to side in front of the stage, doing his dance which looked alot like the drils we used to run in football practice; his "vogue" dance was in full effect, too - i wonder if madonna was up there in front :P. it certainly looked like he pointed at some-one specific during "tits" of oh no..., but i couldnt see who it was...
did i say ronnie was on fire? i'll say it again - ronnie was on fire!
lisa looked stunning, too.
the band took the stage, that was subdued, and mostly wore black, 'cept keef and ronnie, and the OWNED the place from start to finish. no pyro technics, and the lights werent nearly as commanding as they were at the bowl or in the arenas, and the performance was riveting. keef said so, too - something like "there's a good energy tonight."
there certainly was.
now if only my ears would stop ringing...
____
for the record, i missed qotsa; i was hustling in the parking lot for upgraded seats, which we got
_____
madafaka - i didnt record, but i am sure somebody did...

oh - one more thing to mention: ronnie's solo during ycagwyw - '75esque!!!
i will leave the details to the statisticians (sic), but i think in the four local shows - we got more firsts, and special performances than ANYWHERE this tour...
awesome evening! |
