Topic: Stones at Kid Rock show tonight? Return to archive Page: 1 2
February 3rd, 2006 05:14 AM
Extremo from http://extremekidrock.moonfruit.com

We've heard that the Rolling Stones, Eminem, Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger and Hank Williams Jr will all make appearances at either tonight or tomorrow's Joe Louis shows. We're not sure sure how reliable this is, nothing official has been confirmed.

===========

Kid Rock performs 2 nights in a row at the Joe Louis Arena as part of the Superbowl weekend in Detroit. The first show sold out in 9 minutes, the second 6 minutes later.

Going by the collective wealth of the Stones, Sheryl, Eminem (and probably Hank, going by his late father's royalties), I would imagine that "we own the world" would be a more appropriate choice of lyric

Voodoo Scrounge I quite like Kid Rock. Anyone else?
February 3rd, 2006 08:02 AM

February 3rd, 2006 08:18 AM
gimmekeef The Stones are safely tucked away across the border in Canada at the Casino in Windsor.Doubt security will allow much hopping back and forth....
February 3rd, 2006 09:03 AM
glencar Didn't Sheryl Crowe date Kid Rock for a year or so? I'll bet the Stones show up on stage before she ever does.
February 3rd, 2006 09:07 AM
gimmekeef If there was a huge event In Zimbabwe Rock and Crowe would find their way there....Enough of these 2 twats already...

Saint Sway FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I never opened this thread!!

I now have a bleeding ulcer and am now profusely flop sweating with anxiety that the Stones will bring Kid Rock out onstage at the Super Bowl show.

please no!!! This cant happen! Oh no!!!!

WHY??

WHY???

WHY??????????????

February 3rd, 2006 01:06 PM
jb Kid Rock=15 minutes long up...............
February 3rd, 2006 01:15 PM
nanatod "that the Stones will bring Kid Rock out onstage at the Super Bowl."

Relax. It's not likely to happen, as the NFL doesn't like Kid Rock after the last time he was at the Super Bowl.

But even if it does, Kid Rock does have sensitivity and sensibility to classic (hard) rock. His whole shtick was to combine hip hop with rock. Although he started out in 1990 opening for Ice Cube, Yoyo, and Too Short, he later brought out the "Skynyrd" part of his upbringing, and by doing that, started to sell records, and ended up opening for Metallica.

Give another listen to "Cowboy;" it is a modernized "Honky Tonk Woman."
February 3rd, 2006 01:17 PM
gimmekeef Another listen?....I am fortuntate to have never heard it the first time.Kid Rock is a sick joke...

so what???

thats like mixing Peach Snapple into a glass of expensive cabernet.

FUCKING HORRENDOUS!!

nanatod "so what???"

There are hip hop acts that rock, and that the rock audience, including this board's participants, need, not ought to be familiar with, if they want to consider themselves, rockers, and not old fuddy-duddies.

Music in 2006, requires some facility with hip hop.

Some hip hop that I believe would be palatable to this audience is:

Saul Williams
Public Enemy
The Roots (play their own instruments)
Run DMC (collaboration with Aerosmith)
Arrested Development (you can hear echoes of Sly Stone in the lst record)
Beastie Boys

Sir Stonesalot >Music in 2006, requires some facility with hip hop.<

Ian? Is that you Ian?

Hey man, it sounds like you are on some really great fucking drugs. I'm off this weekend, please share with me.

My theory is that music in 2006 would be much better off if it had ABSOLUTELY NO facility with hip hop.

And I'm about as close to being a fuddy-duddy as W is to being a peacenik.

February 3rd, 2006 01:48 PM
gimmekeef Gladly be called a fuddy duddy anyday..than listen to Run DMC....You were shitting us werent you?......Hip Hop and music dont belong in the same sentence.....
February 3rd, 2006 01:48 PM
Saint Sway hip hop is the worst thing to ever happen to rock and roll. And to music overall.

like SS said, I aint remotely close to being a fuddy duddy. Listening to hip hop doesnt make you cool, pal. Its for mall rats and wanna be's.

I'll take my rock straight up. Thank you.

Public Enemy is one of the best live acts I have ever seen, period. The Beastie Boys at the Universal Amphitheatre in 2004 was also a great show. I also dig Cypress Hill.
