guitarman53 The Stones are #1, but The Who are #2 as the greatest Rock Band still playing, and as far as I think, the greatest Rhythm section in rock music, ever wonder why Townsend leaps in the air & dances all over the stage, it's the rhythm section that's backing him up, all the bass players I know are always influenced by Entwhistle, the real first Bass player that brought up the Bass as a instrument.

Child of the Moon I cannot wait for this release. And I had no idea about the live disc set! Are these rare or unreleased recordings? I personally would love a decent recording of that '67 Marquee performance of So Sad About Us (as seen on 30 Years of Maximum R&B). That's the Who just simply tearing shit up. No holds barred.

I love the "Who"!

Jumping Jack Two Who DVDs set for release
Thomas K. Arnold, Reuters
Published: Thursday, August 30, 2007

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Two feature-length DVDs on the Who will reach stores on November 6, one targeted at mainstream fans of the British rock veterans and the other at die-hard aficionados.

"Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who," the film for wide audiences, will receive its world premiere September 12 at the Toronto International Film Festival, 40 years after the group completed its first major North American tour.

The film chronicles the history of the band through fresh interviews with surviving band members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, rare concert footage, artist profiles and more.

The companion film, "Amazing Journey: Six Quick Ones" features four segments on the musical abilities of band members Townshend, Daltrey, bass player John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. A fifth part, "Who Art You," explores the Mod culture that spawned the band's visuals, while segment six, "Who's Back," chronicles the 2003 recording of "Real Good Looking Boy," the Who's first new studio recording in more than 20 years.

The two films will be released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment in one two-disc set that also includes a book and bonus content. Extras include a video scrapbook showcasing a dinner with Moon; the tragic 1979 Cincinnati concert in which 11 fans were crushed to death in a rush to get into the Riverfront Coliseum; and the celebrated 2000 Royal Albert Hall concert, in which the Who were joined by such guest musicians as Bryan Adams and Eddie Vedder in a benefit for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

corgi37 The Who were great. #2 easily. But, there are many, many WHO fans bitterly disappointed by this release. The forums i go to the buggers bleat about this more than we ever would about the Stones. Seems alot of promises were made about the content of this package, only to have it severely truncated to include crappy stuff.

Or something like that. Either way, i'm over it. I'm happy just to watch the re-jigged Kids are alright.

Morrisey Hotel Joey you're gonna be so jealous of me. Pete put my penis in his mouth, he only took the tip, he said it was for research.

east_river_trucker They have re-released so many music collections on CD that they are now starting to re-release their video material. Isn't this the third bio-video release?

But it's got great marketing and packaging. When the Who do something they do it well, unlike the lackluster, thrown together, cut and paste product the Stones release. 25X5 on VHS? That project must have taken the Stones about 30 minutes to complete.

On a more positive note. Maybe this will (along with the Zepplin, Hendrix, AC/DC, Grateful Dead archival releases) inspire Rolling Stones, Inc. to look into their archives and decide to kick the Who's and Zepplin's ass with some archival DVD releases of their own.

Why oh why do the Sotnes continue to live in the music business world of the past. Do they not ever look around at what the rest of the music world is doing these days?

All very true, there must be a lot more old footage of The Stones that nobody ever seen, I would love to see it, I thought that 25x5 might get released on DVD, with extra footage that didn't make it on the VHS version.
