It was a very bizarre call.
It sounded like Lilly Tomlin doing her Ernestine operator gag!
She heard that I was enquiring about the sweepstakes.
I had called BB's home office and left a message this very morning with the Vice President in charge of Bogus and Fraudulent Sweepstakes. He promptly forwarded the call to Lilly at the sweepstakes management co.!
So she tells me that the sweepstakes drawing has not been held yet but will be held before the event.
[what a nifty business model for a sweepstakes!]
Well then I ask if she can tell me when the drawing will be held -- as between this afternoon and tomorrow evening!
She says "oh wait, we just held the drawing"
Just held it?
While I was on the phone?
What a coincidence!
Does it say "nanky?????"
She says she will send me the list of winners by mail.
I say NG, what if I am the grand prize winner?
I won't have the mail by then and I don't much feel like going up there and hanging out in the cold with luxy!
She says I'm not the winner.
I say, okay well since you know the winner, can you tell me?
She says no.
So I asked for the list of winners (grand prize and 15 who get DVDs or a year's supply of Turtle Wax) via e-mail -- she said she cannot and refused.
I asked if/how the winner was notified -- she tells me yes by affidavit.
She said winners of the DVDs, etc. will receive prizes by mail.
That's all I remember before I blacked out... |
