Kim has a much better voice than her twin; it's no comparison.
I can't stand Donnelly, but that may be from all the hype that WXRT threw her way. The hype didn't help her career, however.
I forget how great Carla is, until I go see her in concert, and then she just blows me away. She is the most attractive and most exciting punk rock / alternative country lesbian singer songwriter ever. |

Kelley's voice is amazing on her solo albums though. She doesn't sing much with the Breeders except for one song and some harmonies. I love her solo stuff.

Wow, she actually gets airplay some places? Her solo gig I saw in 2004 was one of the best I saw that year. It was in a talking prohibited venue so I could hang on every word without being distracted by whats going on around me.

I didn't know she was a lesbian! I thought she lived with guitarist Nels Cline! I don't go see her often anymore as it doesn't quite measure up to Geraldine Fibbers or Ethyl Meatplow. |

I first saw the Fibbers at an in-store at the late "Quaker Goes Deaf" one weekend afternoon. I was so impressed with their sound that I bought a ticket to the show that night at the Riviera Theater where they opened for Urge Overkill. After the Fibbers played, I spent about 45 minutes during Urge's set talking music with with the Fibbers' bassist.
I saw the Fibbers again at the late Lounge Ax several months later. After the Fibbers broke up, and Carla did the Willie Nelson cover CD, I saw her and Cline play live at Reckless Records.
Although she is demure, Carla is the most intense female singer I've ever heard. It's almost like she's channeling Johnny Cash.
I don't remember whether someone told me that Carla was a lesbian, or whether I read it somewhere.
