e-mails are being sent out by rs.com to fan club members, as it appears the tickets are being sold by way of a 'contest' - ie, write in and tell us why we should give you a ticket.

Fan Club members,
Earlier this year, the Rolling Stones performed for nearly 2 million fans on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
At the end of October, they'll perform at New York's legendary Beacon Theatre for just over 2,000 - one of the smallest audiences on the A Bigger Bang tour.
The Rolling Stones Fan Club is giving you, the members, a chance to be one of the lucky few!
Whether you dream of being there as The Rolling Stones help Bill Clinton celebrate his 60th birthday in style or you want to raise hell with the band on Halloween night, RollingStones.com can get you in.
Enter this members-only contest now for your chance to win tickets to see the Stones at the Beacon Theatre. Only Fan Club members have the chance to win tickets to both of these amazing shows.
Not a member of the Fan Club yet? Join now for your chance to win!
If you've already purchased a ticket on the A Bigger Bang tour, you're already a member of the Fan Club. Click here to activate your Virtual Ticket membership and enter the contest today!
Cheers,

I know it's getting crazy now. Time literally is running out. I have numerous share schemes at work that I could easily sell to cover my flight and hotel. I'm desperate to go! |

you have to be available if and when they contact you on the 25th to tell you youve won
who in the name of fuck can drop everything at 3-4 days notice to fly to New York? what kind of shite is this?
Fucking wonderful. This is what you all paid $100 for, folks. For the right to enter a lottery where - like a schoolkid - you have to write an essay (what if English isnt your first language? bet they never thought of that) and then if you win, youre only told about it a few days in advance and have to book the most expensive flights available

The 25th is pathetic. Why not within 48 hrs? Also did anyone get a passcode to join RS.com with their UK gig tickets? I went to every show and received nothing. |

should be in your 'my account' part of your membership details
I have 3 memberships but one pre-sale (for a UK show) is still unused
It seems its open to rs.com members whether youve used your presale code or not, anyway

They want a local audience.
Why should people who live nearby have to miss out on a show because some people who have seen them 20 times this tour - need to see them yet again?

Personally I think the contest is as fair a system as any (unless you live outside the US). . .it's pretty random. |

Bollocks.
One fan club member's money should be as good as anyone else's whether theyve seen them one time or a thousand times. We bought the memberships for the right of access to shows like this.
Just because they choose to have a show in New York doesnt mean that city's fans should get exclusive access compared to everyone else. The opportunity to attend a show should be the same whether you live in Tribeca, Timbuktu or Tierra del Fuckin Fuego.
Your argument might hold some weight if they were doing these kind of shows worldwide throughout the tour.

fairer than the Licks tour when (gasp) you could use your membership to buy tickets online in a presale in plenty of time to organise a flight and hotel? |

I hope I win. That will determine whether or not this thing is fair. I entered some contest for that EPA show at Staples & did not win. I feel like Charlie Brown sometimes. |

yes..the e-mail sent out states that "Only Fan Club members have the chance to win tickets to both of these amazing shows".
Whether that means that the ONLY public tickets being sold are being distributed via this contest or whether it means there will be a regular online sale as well (for fan club members), isnt apparent from that statement. I hope its the latter, but I'm beginning to have my doubts.
yet there are brokers offering tickets for this show....in which case, if theyre genuine, Cohl and the Stones have obviously cut a deal with them too....
