A friend of mine just called me and said he just heard on the radio that Pink Floyd will reunite w/Roger Waters next year and tour. |

This rumor was reported by Pollstar last week. I've been anticipating it for years and, with Roger Waters preparing THE WALL for Broadway, it seems apropriate to re-form the band and hit the road! |

Hmm, I'm doubtful. Gilmour has been reluctant enough these past few years, he seemed more interested in his young kids... he made it quite clear not to be interested in touring with PF again, with or without Waters.
But if they'll do it anyway, make a new album first! What goes for the Stones, goes for everyone... |

Agreed -- this on-again/off-again PF reunion album and tour is a "I'll believe it when I see it."
I saw an interviews with Gilmour a couple of years ago, and when the question of PF was asked, he sounded like he'd rather stick a boiled cod in his ass crack than ever deal with Waters again. I don't think Waters even gave an interview -- way too reclusive and bitter apparently.

hey Floyd fans...
check out the tour page at www.richrobinson.net
Rich has about one more week of shows left on his tour to support his debut CD "Paper" and he's been playing a bunch of really cool obscure PINK FLOYD songs during his shows
cool shit like "Fearless" and "Echoes"
the record is great too btw
you can definately hear the early Floyd influence on a number of tracks - especially the song "Oh No"
you can hear a live download at his website too

I don't belive it and if for some kind of miracle they get together, Waters will last a week and then goodbye again. |

Well, I guess this ends the speculation:
British Rock magazine 'Q' claims in it's October issue that "Pink Floyd are rumoured to be putting aside their considerable differences and reuniting for a series of lucrative shows next year". They also went on to say "Q understands that discussions have taken place between the two parties (Roger Waters & the other three Floyd members) about the possibility of playing a set of shows to mark the 30th anniversary of 1975's Wish You Were Here Album"
One web site rather recklessly speculated that as Q Magazine interviewed both Mason & Waters for their September Pink Floyd special, then, "Q may just have something". However, the facts just don't bear this out.
Our enquiries with people closely connected in the Floyd & Roger Waters camps have brought gales of laughter! Mark Fenwick (Roger's Manager) has stated "there is no truth to the rumor at this time."
We are also told that Barbara Skydel of William Morris Agency, who has had longtime ties to Waters, responded by saying it was "the first she had heard of the rumour."
The clincher was Nick Mason on BBC 2 on Tuesday 12 Oct when asked about the rumour in Q said "There are absolutely no plans to reform with Roger, I think that's very unlikely.and I certainly won't be holding my breath on that one" You can listen to the interview HERE (Select listen again for Tuesday, interview starts at app 1 hour 30 mins into show)
As much as we would dearly loved this rumour to be true, all the facts indicate that the author of the story was probably suffering from an overactive imagination.

If they do tour again, with or without Waters, they are the one group who might possibly break the concert gross record the Stones now own. |

When did Floyd tour last?
'94?
They didn't outperform Voodoo Lounge, but then again, nothing has!
That Wish You Were Here idea sure sounds good!!

To use an appropriate metaphor, pigs will fly before this reunion happens. They literally haven't spoken since 1983, Gilmour and Co. are rich as the pope from the 200 show 87-90 and 94 tours, and Waters is as rich as the queen from songwriting royalties, and now he's putting The Wall on Broadway. Bottom line is Waters is a hateful man, and he hates Gilmour and Mason. |

Actually, I think Roger has mellowed a bit in recent years in terms of his attitude towards his former band mates. When I saw him a couple of years ago in Moutainview, when he finished playing "Wish You Were Here", he said "I wish they were here." I can only assume he was talking about the other members of Pink Floyd.

Near as I can tell:
10. Terminal lack of swagger
9. NO sense of humor
8. Average song length: 7 minutes
7. You can't dance to it
6. Alienation EXTREMELY dull subject matter
5. Inspired more laser shows than Zeppelin
4. RADIO KAOS
3. MONEY is one of their fastest songs
2. "The child is grown. The dream is gone . . "
1. No one would ever dream of synching a Stones LP to the Wizard of Oz.
IMHO

LOL.....a perfect summation
add in :
movies with no dialogue made out of concept albums
sexless songs
extremely pretentious album sleeves
attract an extremely dull fanbase
I knew a guy once who insisted that "Dark side of the Moon" was better than sex. I rest my case.

Maybe is true but some of his material is excelent, and my opinion is that it's very hard to listen for Stones fans. Two very different music styles. |

I don't have that problem, I love both bands, grew up with them, my mum played the Stones, my dad played Pink Floyd.
True however that they have many differences in atmospere, sound, intentions and fan-base. Still, I don't feel constricted to one type of music or one type of 'fan-base', I just listen to music that I like, whatever the aspects are that I like about it.
Dark Side is brilliant (tho I like Wish You Were Here even better), but nothing is better than sex.
Well... maybe chocolate... |
