?

The decline started after Some Girls IMO.

Gazza Each to their own.

I think most people would consider GHS, IORR and Black and Blue to be a relative decline compared to the quartet that preceded them (Beggars, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile)

"Some Girls" is IMO a Stones album that is only (arguably) bettered by Exile, but after Exile it was the exception rather than the rule that they were capable of producing a record like that

Point being that the band's peak level of sustained greatness was around 1968-72 and that consistency had dropped slightly before Taylor left the band.

Joey " Howard had a tape of Jackie Martling on Jim Breuer’s show on SIRIUS’ Raw Dog channel. During the first part of the clip, Jackie talked about how great his life is. He explained that not only is he skinny, divorced and rich, but he also no longer has to worry about getting up at 4:30 a.m. to do the show. Gary pointed out that Jackie was making it sound as if he left the show because of the time it aired, but Howard assured him that wasn’t the case. Howard noted that the reason Jackie left was because the company wouldn’t pay him as much as he wanted.

Howard then played a clip of Jackie talking about how much money Howard makes. In it, Jackie brought up that the security guard at SIRIUS was 150 years old, which he figured was the only guy the company could afford to hire because Howard was taking all its money. Gary recalled that Jackie was always obsessed with the amount of money Howard earned. He went on to say that one of Jackie’s favorite sayings was that if there were 100 marbles and Howard had 98 of them, Howard still wouldn’t want anyone else to get the other two. After hearing that, Howard commented that it was clear Jackie had no marbles. Howard added that, after a while, he couldn’t stand Jackie’s jealousy anymore. Howard also revealed that he actually started believing that the show’s ratings would take a hit when Jackie left, as Jackie predicted they would. However, Howard announced the current ratings just had just come out, and that once again his show is number across the board.

A NEED FOR THE GREEN

Howard brought up that another reason Jackie said he wanted to leave was because he wanted to work on writing scripts. Howard remembered that he used to, unsuccessfully, suggest to Jackie that since he only had to do the show for four hours every morning, he could stay on it and still have plenty of time to concentrate on his other projects. Given what he was hearing about Jackie’s craving for money, Artie asked if Jackie was still wealthy. Howard reported that Jackie is doing fine, while Gary added he made a killing in the stock market throughout his time on the show.

Howard mentioned that during Jackie’s negotiations for a new contract, he used to sit down with him and explain that no job in radio was going to pay him more than the one he had. However, Howard said that no matter what he told Jackie, he still wouldn’t listen. Gary admitted that there have been times he has felt like he was underpaid by the station, but said that he never compared his salary to what Howard or Robin were making. Gary noted, that Jackie used to do just that with his salary. Howard added that every time the show opened in a new market, Jackie always expected to get more money. In fact, Howard remembered that Jackie once asked him to “open his books” so he could get a better feel for how big he thought his salary should be. Artie pointed out that even though he loved Jackie, that request sounded a bit odd.

LEAVING THE PAST BEHIND

During the interview, Jackie also claimed that he and Howard were so in tune with one another that it was like they shared the same brain. Jackie went on to discuss his relationship with Rodney Dangerfield, and how he wrote some jokes for Rodney to help pay off a debt he owed him. Howard revealed that he dropped Jackie a line to let him know that he enjoyed his appearance on Raw Dog and that the two now have plans to go to dinner to catch up sometime soon. However, Howard joked that after hearing some of Jackie’s stories, he was rethinking the whole dinner thing."

************* JOEY NOW GIVES EULOGY *******************

My Joshy need not be idolized ;
Or enlarged at ' Shidobee ' beyond what he was at ' Rocks Off ' .
He IS to be remembered as a kind and decent man ;
A man who saw wrong and tried to right it ...
Saw suffering and tried to heal it ...
Saw War and tried to STOP it .

And those of us who loved him ** Young Joey's voice now cracking with visceral and heartfelt emotion *** ;
And who take him to his ' transition ' here today .
Know that what he was and what he stood for ;
Will someday come to pass for all the world .
As he said many times in many posts throughout the decades ;
" Some Men see message boards the way they are and say , ' Why ?!?! ' ..... ' WHY ?!?! ' .........
I dream of message boards that never were and say , ' WTF ?!?! ' !!!!!!!! "

I Thank You For Your time Today !

Scazz!

...cue chorus :

Has anybody here seen my old friend Joshy?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
You know, I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walk up over the hill,
With Joshy, Martin and John.

Baby Joe
