STONES' CHARLIE MARRIAGE ON ROCKS

CHARLIE Watts is facing the biggest crisis of his 40-year marriage. The heartache comes just weeks after the Rolling Stones drummer beat a battle against cancer.
Friends say Charlie, 63, and wife Shirley - once thought to have had one of the strongest marriages in showbusiness - have been living "virtually separate lives" for months.
They have not even seen each other since Charlie was given the all-clear from the killer disease eight days ago.
One friend said last night: "It's all very sad."

" a friend said.."....ho hum. That usually means one of two things in British tabloid-speak, either;
1) someone who's not really a friend (because friends dont do this sort of thing) has told us a private story that MAY have some validity but which we've spiced up a bit for the sake of journalistic effect - and saying its from someone close to the source gives it more credibility;
or
2) we've made it up. Charlie hasnt been a target for the tabloid press for about 40 years and now there was a human interest story recently on him, we want to keep things ticking over in the public eye by making something up about him
Incidentally, Charlie was given the 'all clear' considerably more than "8 days ago", so theres a factual inaccuracy right there
Easy to see the angle they're coming at here - "Charlie's wife falls out with him when she realises he's going to be ok!".
I hope its bullshit. Charlie & Shirley are 40 years married this week. Unheard of in the world of rock music. |

charlie and shirley have alwasy led separate lives in a way. she has had to find ways to keep herself sober and amused all these years, and is always busy with the farm and horses and her art and charities and stuff. ihave an interview in which he says "when i'm home for a long time she says 'don't you have someplace else you need to be?' because i'm always underfoot."
so i think with all the time he's been home, and with the illness and all, they are just getting their stuff done now that they couldn't do while he was sick.
i'll believe it when i hear it from them. |

Total bullshit! Those two have a strong marriage. Shirley has to have her own hobbies...thank God it wasn't heroin, like Anita...or she and Charlie wouldn't be together.
Even if they are going through a rough patch, as can happen when one spouse is going through something the other one isn't, they will work it out. |

Bobby does look like a big lesbian woman in that photo. I thought I was the only one who noticed that. But I know kath from Shidoobee, and have read about her husband; so I took another glance, and realized it was Bobby. |

Probably nonsense, the press will always just try to sensationalise everything. Just speculating, however as has been already said, most probably they have been under strain due to Charlies illness and there is always tension when that happens. 40 years married, im sure they have had tough times before. The only definate conclusion we can extract from this, is that the tabloids bullshit.

Since this article was also posted on Shidoobee, we are free to opine on the merits, whether you believe them or not. This is what these boards are all about-creating topics so that we can share our views. Are the rumors probably false?-I certainly hope so..however, often times these rags, while detestable , do break certain news first. Charlie, whom is loved by virtually all Stones fans(not just Kath51) has had a terrible time this year with the cancer scare and god forbid these rumors are true, it may only be getting worse. Indeed, if they are true, it's the end of the Stones. The fact Charlie is Jewish, however, bodes well for his marriage staying together...(also fuck you Bill Perks). |
