Steel Wheels This place is negative. Everytime I sign on, it's something about:

poor ticket sales
sucky albums
lousy concerts
poor playing
bad pictures
etc etc

All I know is each time I see them in concert they get better and better.

Every morning I wake up and put on some Stones to get me going. I go to work and dream about concerts I have yet to attend. I come home and put some more Stones on and enjoy it. Who needs the reality of sickness, aging, and passing on?

Any one of us can look at our family for that, can't we? I like the Stones as they are: my great escape from my life's problems, and for that, I will always be thankful to have them anyway I can.

Riffhard Steel Wheels! There is nothing negative about pointing out facts. Nobodyis slamming the Stones' desire to hang it up. We are simply saying that they can not go on as a touring band n the level they have been. That's just common sense. It's has absolutly nothing to do with being negative.

gotdablouse So are they going to tour Europe in 2007 with no new album ? Looks like they're squeezing two world tours out of ABB then !
4th October 2006 10:22 PM
mrhipfl But they're touring now, and pulling it off well. What makes you think they aren't able to pull it off in 3 years? Of course, they may not want to tour again. But, they should be able to, unless something drastic happens, which is a possibility, especially if you're old.

That's the way I see it too. What we're doing in this thread is try to predict next years' plans for the Stones using logic - and though most of the hypotheses stated here look very possible, remember, those people never operated on logic None of us can predict the future, and even the most logical assumption may prove wrong in the long run.

Each and every single time they've gone out on the road these past few years it DID seem like the last time. Every year that passes enhances the possibility (with older age, sickness, accidents etc.), but then again, it could be the last time or it could be the last time before the next two times. Unless Keith jumps off another tree.

Have a little faith. Expect the unexpected It doesn't only happen with bad things in life, you know.

No..it'll be three world tours out of 40 Licks!

Seriously, its hardly two world tours out of ABB. They only did half a European tour in 2006 (19 shows) after all.

Add 2 shows each in Mexico and Argentina, 1 each in P.Rico and Brazil, 4 in Australia/NZ and six in Asia and thats only 35 shows outside of the US and Canada. In a normal world tour, you would have reasonably expected around double that amount.

By contrast, they'll have played around 80 shows in US and Canada by the time 2006 ends. I think thats over 30 more than last time, so the ABB tour has been a bit "lopsided" so far for various reasons.

As for a new album - they havent toured Europe behind a just-released studio album since 1976. Interesting that Keith said to 'Rolling Stone' that they would probably have one out for next year but that Mick, when asked about it, says its news to him. If that line of thinking is true, its an amazing insight into the lack of communication or collective thought between them. You'd have reasonably expected them to have discussed whether something like this is realistic or not. Sounds like wishful thinking on keiths part, if you ask me.

Sounds like Keith's wishful thinking to me as well - which in some sort of deluded way is nice, to actually see Keith willing to go in for another studio album. He was more reluctant a couple of years back.

Or perhaps Mick follows a usual "deny everything" policy, who knows.

Please make a mental note of my predictions of which percentage of fans will slide into dangerous ground when the touring ends! You will probably be a target and should plan accordingly.

glencar I'd love an album again just like ABB!

The Stones must never tour again or release any new material after the last show ever at the new Wembley in the summer of 07.
5th October 2006 11:57 AM
glencar Joshy, if we don't make it to the Beacon can you confirm for Wembley 2007?

it'll almost certainly be August - especially if, as rumoured, its at the end of the tour

and a weekend most likely

Then it's possible. I'll keep my options "open" as they say in business.

god, i've about had enough of this shit.

turn off your fucking computer and allow the rest of us (who yes, are quite aware of the various realities pertaining to the band these days) enjoy the last few weeks here without your endless dramatics of self-pitty, bitching and pitty-seeking bemoaning of teh obvious. I think i speak for many here when i say you've made us suffer though quiet enough of it. News flash for you jb: we're all quite aware this is the end. Your wallowing in excessive negativity doesn't tell any of us anything we didn't already know. ABB wasn't exile - no shit. This is the last tour - no shit. Some of the playing is sloppy - no shit. Tell us something we don't know, or take your gloom and doom petulance some place else.

Personally - i see nights like Missoula, and i thank god they're still here, and I'm going to embrace them till it's over. Can't understand why you can't do that as well, especially considering you're the one who is so emphatic that the end is here.

let me add jb, I totally appreciate your love for the band, and your wisdom. but i see you lashing out at times
against the band which you yourself said "owes us nothing." why the bitterness in your posts? why the overwhelming dissilusionment? have a coke and a smile man and enjoy the sunset. i've decided to do just that, and not let the dissapointments and shortcomings overshadow what should be a fond farewell.

Yes! I too like those although not so much in re Let Me Down Slow. I heard that today on Sirius followed by Let It Bleed & the contrast was NOT flattering. But all the rest listed are quite delish. I also like IWTL & LWTCDI.

I like them both as well, but to me IWTL sounds unfinished....I think a Slide guitar track added to it would really do it for me; moreso in the sense that I feel it would succeed where songs like Brand New Car just didnt quite make for me, similar type of groove, vibe, and I think they are in the same key as well.
