Is it a problem to d/l two torrents at once?
If so, does it help if you run the torrents on different clients?
I realize that bandwidth is finite, but are there other issues? |

nope - bandwidth and computer disk drive power is all that counts. some older drives have a hard time writing alot of (info all at once); some computers dont have the processing power to do the task, but if those are good, and the bandwidth is managed properly you can do multiple torrents at once...
but when seeding initially, that shoudl be dedicated, with nothing else going up or down, in order to maximize efficiency...

+++++ attention +++++
the new address of the tracker is:
http://rollingstones.kicks-ass.org:6969/
that means the the announce url (the one you use when making the *.torrent files necessary for seeding) will be:
http://rollingstones.kicks-ass.org:6969/announce
everything else is the exact same - the tracker will look and act exactly as it did before, except that it will likely be more stable :P

Mac or Gazza , A quick couple of questions if you don't mind.
Is the tracker at it's new home? The reason i ask is i was going to seed some stuff , but don't see the point if the tracker will be offline in the near future. Also is the tracker on a static IP now?.............cabledogg2 |

this is a tracker for non-commercial, lossless audio sources of rolling stones-related material. no commercial material is allowed to be shared, and no lossy (mp3, aac, etc.) filesets should be uploaded to the tracker...
the swarms are listed on the left side of the tracker page. also shown are the number of seeds, downloaders, and complete downloads, along with some other relevant network information...
check the Rocks Off message board for more information regarding the contents of each fileset - there is a stickied Bit Torrent thread at the top of page one of the bbs...
click one of the fileset names to download the *.torrent file, which you will open with a bit torrent client to join the swarm and start downloading. you might have to right-click -> save as (depending on your browser)...
for more information about bit torrent, check here:
http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=BitTorrent
one thing to also be aware of... this tracker is assigned to a dynamic ip, which means that from time to time, the address changes. that is why we use the dyndns domain of "rollingstones.kicks-ass.org" which updates when the ip address does. however, the *.torrent files you download from the tracker are made with the actual ip address at the moment you download, so the *.torrent file you downloaded yesterday might not be valid today. IF you cannot connect to the tracker (when you open a *.torrent file to join a torrent), and you see that the tracker is up and operational, and shows a number of seeds for the swarm you are trying to join, try re-downloading a new *.torrent file from the tracker, and opening that...
please post any comments, problems, or concerns on the Rocks Off message board. |

if you are experiencing slow download speeds, one of three things could be wrong...
1. your hard drive is full and/or the space has not been allocated properly. stop all running programs, and run scan disc on every hard drive, and fix all the errors (if there are any). then make sure that you have enough space to download the files in the torrent.
2. your machine, network, etc. is not properly configured. please read the information at the following address to solve this problem...
http://userpages.umbc.edu/~hamilton/btclientconfig.html
3. there is not enough available memory in your system. shut down the programs, then turn off/shut down your machine, wait about thirty seconds, and boot your computer back up again.
unless of course, the torrent you are connected to has no seeds - in that case just stay connected, and hope that a seed connects to the swarm soon... |

make a *.torrent file (i use torrentspy), using "http://rollingstones.kicks-ass.org:6969/announce" as the tracker url...
go to the tracker, and click the "upload" link on the upper-right side of the page. an upload page will open...
select the *.torrent file you made,
at the moment, there are no categories...
add a comment if you want...
UNCHECK "include other hashes" box, set the protocol to "HTTP"
leave the torrent hash box empty, and the force start box unchecked
hit submit. a new window should open saying a few things, including that the torrent was uploaded successfully...
open the *.torrent file with your client, connecting as a seed, and stay open. peers will connect to you...
______
remember, the tracker is located at:
http://rollingstones.kicks-ass.org:6969/
the tracker URL (that you enter when making a *.torrent file) is:
http://rollingstones.kicks-ass.org:6969/announce

The tracker has a new URL.
There is no such thing as a static IP but I have one that is very close to it...
The tracker will be running throughout the tour!
I will try my best to keep things stable...thanks!! |
