Just hear on the radio that the Stones have sold 42k tickets and that about 3k were left. Also, that some of the best ($350) seats were discounted (or let go by the band at half price)
Is this true?
I thought the stadium was going to be 65% empty? |

THe stadium sits b/t 45-60k for a concert...if 42k tickets have been sold, that is quite remarkable . |

Keep in mind that "sold" means "given away every fifteen minutes on the radio in the last week". The stadium should be pretty full, and appear packed as this is what they do, but lets not get carried away and assume that any number of "tickets sold" released through the press has any accuracy whatsoever.
I predict a very good show, with a few flaws on guitar and 4 new songs added to the setlist. Folks in attendance will have a good time, and about 14.6% of the folks in attendance will have paid more for parking than they did for the tickets! |

thats quite a wide margin for error!
the seating capacity of the stadium when used for Patriots games is 68,756 - source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillette_Stadium
If they were only going to sell 45,000 seats for this show, that would mean almost half of the seats being unavailable as you would have to have, what, maybe 7,000 of them on the field?
Usual rule of thumb for stadiums is that around 1/4 of the capacity is lost because of the stage taking up one end of the stadium - so thats in excess of 50,000 seats left before you count the ones sold on the field.
Your 'high' range of 60,000 capacity would be closer than the 45,000 one, I would think. |

Bon Jovi, per Billboard, sold out w/ 45k at Gillette. I agree, this is very low, but it makes it seem they are selling out, when in fact, 1/3 stadium empty, |

I can only assume Bon Jovi had half the field closed off then and went for a reduced capacity.
There is no way that stadium holds no more than 45,000 for concerts - even all seated ones.
Even with papering, if the Stones have somehow shifted around 55,000 tickets for a stadium in a region where theyve played four shows already to 100,000 people on this tour they havent done too bad.

Radio Stations aren't privvy to that information. Sometimes they are given free tickets in order to hype up gigs including "Hurry, Tickets Are Going Fast" |

no...he is not interested in the band or it's legacy-he is a social climber interfested in securing petty titles and enormous wealth-he has succeeded at both. He has no interaction w/ the band other than show time. |
