Topic: Blender Says Tony Sanchez Died Return to archive Page: 1 2
09-16-03 01:16 AM
prism I got the new Blender magazine in the mail today. It says Tony Sanchez, Keith's old drug dealer who wrote Up and Down with the Rolling Stones, died in 2002
09-16-03 03:44 AM
MarthaMyDear That's sad!!! Was it an overdose?!?!?! Does it say?!?!?! I knew one of Keith's dealers, actually, but he quit heroin and is doing EXTREMELY well!!! Good for him!!!!!! It pays to quit, needless to say!!!!!!! I hope he keeps going on the same path he's on, which is just to WANT to stay off of heroin, etc.!!! He's doing EXTREMELY well... Maybe I can take a tip or two from him (I don't need any sobriety tips, though, as I DEFINITELY KNOW I am sober!!! CRACKING-UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OOF!!! lol................... :P NEVERMIND!!! lol................... :P )... R.I.P., Tony Sanchez!!!

i enjoyed it a great deal too (excellent title)- not quite the achievement of Stanley B's "True Adventures" (imo) but a great read nonetheless - thanks to tony we all got to hear the "hover-craft in the moat" story - a classic tale of typical stones craziness and rock and roll excess

although there's a fair suggestion it was ghost-written, as keith said "tony could barely right his name..." in the end, who cares??

the official line on the book, i believe, that it's full of half truths and exaggerations but ,again, who cares...while there maybe some embellishments my guess it's pretty close to home...

a most colourful character in the legend of the stones...

any more details on his demise

prism Blender just says he died in 2002. It's a new magazine but they've been accurate in their reporting as far as I can tell. They have quite a few items on the Stones.

Joey

What ?!?!?!?!?!

WHAT ?!?!?!?!?!

" Spanish Tony " is now Hard as a Carp ?!?!?!?!

How did this happen ?!?!?! WHY ?!?!?!?!

Next you will be telling me that Mandy Smith passed away in 1995 .

" What a Piece of Ass Ronnie "

jb Tony Sanchez, another mythical figure in the Stones stories history, will be sorely misses. "Up and Down with the Rolling Stones" is perhaps the greatest account of what it was like back then...those stories of Keith in the bathroon are classic....

Joey " Joey, can you post a picture of the late, great, Israeli premier Menachem Begin-I loved that man. "

I too , but I loved the guy with the " patch " over his eye even more .

What's his name again ????? He led Israeli troops to victory in the 1967 War .

jb Mosher Dyan...a great man.
09-16-03 11:07 AM
Joey " Mosher Dyan...a great man. "

That's it -- Moshy !

I believe Israel could use a man like that right now to take out Arafat !

Joey Colmes !

09-16-03 11:14 AM
jb Believe it or not, Dyan , perhaps the greatest General in Israeli history, was blamed in part for Israel's difficulties in lebannon in the 80's....His legacy, like that of the Stones, was somewhat tarnished. Did you know that Ronald Reagan was so upset about Israel, that he put a picture of a lebanese girl on his desk in the whitehouse when Begin visited? He also went to a nazi cemetary and paid tribute b/c of his anti-Israel secretary of defense Casper Weinberger. and Sec. Of State James Baker.......

Joey " He also went to a nazi cemetary and paid tribute b/c of his anti-Israel secretary of defense Casper Weinberger. and Sec. Of State James Baker....... "

Oh yeah , I remember , I was in my senior year of college .

Bitburg , 1985 .

Actually , it was his " advisors " or " advance men " who messed up on THAT one and Reagan refused to back down . The pressure was unbelievable and Reagan just laughed it off because he never cared what anyone thought or said about him --- traits the Jacky loves and admires !

JACKY !

09-16-03 11:25 AM
jb I never liked Reagan...he cut off my social security check from my deceased father in my 1st year of college in 1980....I think he is way too overrated and the fall of communism was inevitable-not a result of his policies which caused untold suffering to millions ...I think he is getting his just rewards now....
09-16-03 11:28 AM
Joey " not a result of his policies which caused untold suffering to millions ...I think he is getting his just rewards now.... "

Josh ......................

In November of 1980 , both of my Liberal Democratic Parents voted for Ronald Reagan ......................then in 1984 , they did it AGAIN !

" Many Democrats voted for Reagan Ronnie "

Jercee !
09-16-03 11:34 AM
jb I think he mde people feel good about America...it was the result of the humiliation we suffered in Iran under Carter and a weak candidate in Mondale....I was ditressed when Edward Kennedy decided not to run..he was slim then and had a real shot..
P.S.-Joey, are you excited about the new Simon and Garfunkel tour-2 live Jews.

Joey " Carter and a weak candidate in Mondale...."

Walter Mondale fathered Eleanor so that alone gives him a " Star " in Joey's book !
