In regards to Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody & Somebody To Love both charted in the top ten, and I believe both hit number one.
They are not one hit wonders by any means...
I'm not even a Queen fan, and i'm calling for their removal from this one hit wonder list!
They've other songs that also charted high, just Google and you'll see! |

Sorry..."one hit wonder" isn't exactly what I was trying to convey....even though some of the songs fall into that category. So technically you're right. But for now I'll still leave it on the list. By naming "In -a -gadda -de -vida." Mr Pleasant got the spirit of the thread...touched on what I trying to get at. Sorry I wasn't more articulate.

Queen's "'39" almost turned me into of their fans, until I found out that it's a compleat rip-off off Dylan's "When The Ship Comes In".
Later I found out that the Stones had stolen a Chuck Berry song, and I had to kill Brian Jones. |

Lyrically this is Ian Anderson's "jewel in the crown".
Shakespearean quality...and I don't know of any other Rock n' Roll lyrycist to acheive that besides Dylan maybe.
JETHRO TULL LYRICS
"Cross-Eyed Mary"
Who would be a poor man, a beggarman, a thief --
if he had a rich man in his hand.
And who would steal the candy
from a laughing baby's mouth
if he could take it from the money man.
Cross-eyed Mary goes jumping in again.
She signs no contract
but she always plays the game.
Dines in Hampstead village
on expense accounted gruel,
and the jack-knife barber drops her off at school.
Laughing in the playground -- gets no kicks from little boys:
would rather make it with a letching grey.
Or maybe her attention is drawn by Aqualung,
who watches through the railings as they play.
Cross-eyed Mary finds it hard to get along.
She's a poor man's rich girl
and she'll do it for a song.
She's a rich man stealer
but her favour's good and strong:
She's the Robin Hood of Highgate --
helps the poor man get along.

Didn't he used to despise rock, till Presley became a soldier? Or am I to believe every celluloid dream that was defecated by Hollywoodland? For instance:
- Cristopher Columbus was a handsome warrior with a sword for a penis. (Christopher Columbus: The Discovery - with Marlon Brando as Tomás de Torquemada!)
- William Wallace had long curly hair, but he gave up his metrosexual mane in order to liberate a land ruled by gangsters. (Braveheart.)
- This boat witnessed the greatest love story that never happened, and straight guys cried as if they'd lost their mamas. (Titanic. Or "Le Titanic", in french.)
- A retard in tennis shoes saves the heart and soul of America, while reaganites finger each other in the ass. (Forrest Gump. Or "Le Retard".)

You are right. Another One Bites The Dust was a runaway cross-over success on both rock and r&b charts when it was released.

Of course, Frank hated any competition. He was all ego. You couldn't call Frank the singers singer because he hated anything that wasn't Frank. Frank is an enigma because he was cool and an asshole at the same time. Frank treated people other like shit. He was an arrogant asshole who couldn't take it in stride. |

TITLE: Spirit in the Sky
Lyrics
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When they lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky - spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die - when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Prepare yourself, you know it's a must
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you to the spirit in the sky - spirit in the sky
Oh, recommend you to the spirit in the sky
That's where you're gonna go when you die - when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You're gonna go to the place that's the best
Never been a sinner, I've never sinned
I've got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with the spirit in the sky
Oh, set me up with the spirit in the sky - spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die - when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Go to the place that's the best
