LOL. I had never even heard of them till this thread, guess they don't get out much (internationally). When I saw that name I thought it maybe was one of them American sports teams, like baskett ball or American Football or something. Turns out to be a country music group. They probably like ZZ TOP by the looks of it.

[Edited by Angiegirl]

Tell you the truth, I'm not sure I had heard of them either, and I like to think I know a bit about music. But there are dozens of burned out 70s faux-country bands running around with names very similar.

Did the Oakies sing Jackie Blue? Ooooo Ooooo hooooo hoooo, Jackie Blue......

Sir Stonesalot Since when did any of us ever care about what the Oak Ridge Boys had to say about anything?

What's your problem, Poplar? In case you haven't noticed, I've kept a very low profile during this whole Fox vs the Stones episode. Everyone knows what I think. Why waste my breath repeating it?

I do appreciate the special treatment that's reserved for me by you guys. Really I do. But it makes you all look a little silly to the rest of us.

A lot of the opinions voiced by our colleagues around the world have been a lot more strident than mine usually are. Where are the lame-brained personal attacks against them?

On a much more pleasant note:

Angiegirl, the Oak Ridge Boys make ZZ Top look like the Sex Pistols. They are a redneck gospel quartet idolized by middle-aged WalMart shoppers in the 80s, had one stupid hit ("Elvira") and have since disappeared to Branson MO, and this is the only way they can get on TV anymore.

Just another hilarious chapter in what is shaping up to be the greatest PR stunt in the Stones' history since the "would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone" episode in the mid 60s.

Would you let your mother marry a Rolling Stone?

Apparently you must agree with THEIR redneck agenda.

Over on their message board there is a ton of Stones bashing going on.

This is too good...um, just out of curiosity, what's the url of their message board?

Hee hee hee.

Gazza The credibility of any act goes right out the window when they call themselves "boys" yet actually resemble Grizzly Adams - they're a bit long in the tooth to have a name that makes them sound more like a boyband..

one of the guys over on IORR went to their message board to 'defend' the Stones and got himself involved in a pissing contest with one irate poster - who actually turned out to be not a mere fan, but the band's 'leader'.

Speaks volumes for the amount of work these dorks must be getting these days if the band members have to resort to getting involved in spats on their own message board.

Fuckmooks.

Lazy Bones Found this in the Oak Ridge Boys archives...relaxing to a game of horseshoes before a gig...

Steel Wheels Every lame-ass, down-on-their-luck, flag waiving band of hicks will certainly jump on this as a chance to not only bash the Stones, but to cash in on the publicity it will bring.

I hate the Oak Ridge Boys with a passion and can only hope for their quick return to the realms of the forgotten.

Lazy Bones Folks, you gotta read this thread over there...one guy is comparing physical longevity between Mick and "Joe". These are the pictures posted. Funny thing is, the Mick of 2005 is in better shape than the Mick of 1975.

What really has me rolling on the floor....look at the roof in "Joe's" picture. I wonder what capacity that barn is?

lotsajizz don't diss ZZ TOP...earnest rockers, survivors, and Billy Gibbons is very talented and a great friend of Keith's

jb .... why they chose to attack the Stones on Fox amazes me....but then again, many here idolize Sean Hannity, Neal Cavuto, and O'Reiley........they let 'em slide on this, but watch out for Hilary in 08.....I'm sure a documentry ala the "SwiftBoat" job they did on Kerry is in the work..Probably titled "Hilary killed Vince Foster" ....

Steel Wheels Christ, these god damned political wars. Kerry was much maligned by that swift boat crap.

Hilary doesn't stand a chance. This country needs to kick most of these special interest groups off of the hill and get back to real issues.

I suggest we go over to their Dukes of Hazzard loving board and explain to them that in America everyone has the right to say what they want.

Again, I feel I must state I respect President Bush and I agree with many of his policys. But I am starting to get annoyed with Fox news and the propaganda they run.

I don't take them closeminded rednecks seriously. they want to keep america backwards.
