A push up tickets idea, but the same happened with AC/DC and worked very well.
Except that AC/DC did blow away The Stones IMO (and loads of people), at least in Oberhausen (Germany) in June 2003. The Stones were actually a bit of a mainstream boring act after the wonderfully energetic AC/DC show... |

"Over the course of our career we've been fortunate enough to share the stage with a select few of the bands we grew up on, admired and respected including AC/DC, Deep Purple, Guns N' Roses and Iron Maiden. The only band that we have never played with but have always wanted to is The Rolling Stones," says Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich.
"Having the opportunity to play with them this November in our hometown of San Francisco is both an honor and a privilege. And it's bound to be a lot of fuckin' fun especially since we haven't special guested since 1992! These shows will enable us to recharge our batteries, both creatively and physically, as we prepare for the next phase of Metallica."
I love this bit. Fucking little Lars can't seem to bring himself to say the words "open for the Stones". No,no,no,Metallica is "special guesting" and "sharing the stage" with Stones! LOL! Opening?! Perish the thought! I have met this guy,and let me tell you,he reeks of arrogance. Pretty funny stuff right there! Psstttt,....hey Lars,.....heads up bro....you're "opening" for the Stones! Got it? Get it? Good!

They are on track and the big marketing hasn't even started yet. Some say the Stones are out of touch with their audience....others say that first group is even more out of touch with how aware the Stones are of their goals and how confident they are they will surpass them. Keep watching.

I'm assuming you met him on the musical side of his life too! He's worse on his personal side, if you can imagine that being possible!
The sad part is, the guy isn't really about rock and roll. Hard to believe seeing it's his job... If it wasn't for the money, dude would be done with touring and making albums. He is the biz end of the band and that's how come they made it so big, it was just after they reached that point, he never looked back. He hates Metallica fans...

At this point, I am just glad to say I don't know who or what Metallica is
I think they are a "heavy metal" band but I could be wrong
All I know is this means three more rounds of drinks before you go into the stadium to see The Stones hit the stage

WTF?
Did you not see the Metallica documentary? It was called Some Kind of Monster (something like that.) Anyways, James was a prima donna!
Here: Read my review of this movie:
Metallica documentary, Some Kind of Monster
I went to see the Metallica documentary this weekend. I was a bit disappointed. If you are not a huge fan, it’s not really worth it.
I was disappointed even before I went into the theater, because I had thought that my brother had met them in person. But, it turns out that the band that he has met on several occasions is called “Queensryche”.
Anyways, the movie is very long or it seemed really long. Usually, I can sit through most movies without having to get up to go to the bathroom, but this movie I had to get up twice, I did drink a lot of soda though.
The movie is a documentary of the making of their last album, St. Anger. It starts some time in 2001, and doesn’t end until 2003! The reason, it takes them so long to complete the album is because James, the lead singer and Lars, the drummer are not getting along. They rent the Presidio in San Francisco, and turn it into a recording studio. But, right away, there are problems. James insists that he can only work 4 hours! He can only work from 12 to 4. And, everyone is like cool. But, then James has a temper-tantrum because he wants “everyone” to stop working at 4, too! He is just so unreasonable. He doesn’t even want Lars and the producer to listen to the material they have recorded after he is gone.
They are not getting along at all! Their bass player, left the band to pursue his own project, EchoBrain. He felt that his creativity was being stifled.
So, the producer has to take the place of the bass player temporarily, because the band is not getting along, and they don’t want to bring in someone new during this difficult time.
To help them get along, they hire this $40,000-a-month-therapist who specializes in dealing with people with huge egos, mainly star athletes in sports teams. Anyways, the therapist tries to help them. But, James still just takes off without telling anyone anything. So, everything is just in limbo. And no one knows if and when he will come back. *Although he appears to be a jerk to his bandmates, James is a good father and husband.
This movie does not deliver what it promises, there is not enough music, and too much therapy sessions! And, thanks to this movie, my premise that therapist are full of bull has been reinforced.
Aside from the therapy sessions and the arguments in the recording studio. The movie shows, Lars with his father, James with his wife and kids, James riding some weird racing car, surfing, Lars and water-skiing, Lars goes running, Lars sells his paintings in New York City, Lars and go see Echobrain perform, the band performs for prison inmates at San Quentin, the band is honored by MTV, the band has a fan appreciation day, and this chick jams with the band, the band holds auditions for a new bass player, and finally, the band finishes their album and goes on tour. |

LOL gorda that's some funny shit! I'm only refering to my meetings with the band. I have met them twice, and on both occassions Lars was the bigger of the assholes. Mind you James may very well be an asshole himself, but he wasn't when I met him. He was pretty cool to me. Lars on the other hand had the whole rockstar vibe working, and I was not impressed by his act. Truth be told I could care less about Mettalica as a band, but it was a working situation, and the beers were free.

When my wife met them right before the show at Candlestick about 5 years ago. James and Lars asked her where Kirk was, had anybody seen him? She replied, who is that. She didn't even know who they were, which I found hysterical. James laughed and Lars looked pissed. My brother in law quickly introduced us to him. James found it very endearing, he's used to starfuckers. We had a polite chat I thanked him for our passes, which were really under Lars, and headed over to the deli tray and scarfed tons of food. The highlight of that day was meeting Kid Rocks now deceased side kick Joe-C (not sure how he spelled it). He was really cool riding a mini bike and signing autographs for the police there. Korn sucked, as usual and had a mini camp backstage to keep everyone away. Thanks for the favor! |
