luxury1 Well, I dont care about all yous rainin on my parade. I got all excited when I read this. It is fun/funny. I am sending in a couple suggestions of my own.
July 26th, 2005 04:52 PM
pdog I've asked them to drop Jb's posts from the set list.
Mick smiled, Keith gurgly laffed, Ronnie looked confused and Charlie just nodded and tightened his cymbals.
Lisa Fischer did however offer to crush Jb's head between her thighs.

Down In The Hole

Gazza sounds like another gimmick that the band wont take seriously

Send us your dream set list (in the order you want the songs played) and who knows - maybe you'll hear your set list in concert this tour!

who knows, indeed? 'maybe' they'll play 'your' setlist if its chocabloc with 'start me up', 'satisfaction' and similar long lost nuggets

Somehow I cant see a stadium show being comprised of tracks like "Slave", "Sway", "time waits for no one" and "100 years ago" - can you?

July 26th, 2005 05:57 PM
Nasty Habits C'mon, Gazza! You know they're dying to finally throw down Who's Driving Your Plane, Sad Day, Break the Spell, No Use Crying, and Hitch Hike in front of a crowd of 30,000 folks!

Hehehehe! Yes, I totally believe that about them, I mean, Keith just messes up the opening chords of Brown Sugar every time out of boredom. Bring on Break The Spell!

Child of the Moon Has anyone seen the list of songs they HAVE rehearsed so far? Absolutely uninteresting. The only songs of note are She's So Cold, As Tears Go By, Under My Thumb and, to a lesser degree, Love is Strong. Maybe they're just warming up by playing the usual and easy stuff that they know like the backs of their hands. At least, I hope that's what's going on.

My suggestion for them? Just do stuff we haven't heard yet, or things we haven't heard in a long time. It doesn't matter what, really. I'm just sick of hearing the same shit. Remember how jazzed you were when you read all of those songs they'd rehearsed for the last tour? And how utterly disappointed you were when they didn't play the majority of them? With the benefit of hinsight, I can say that the Licks tour was really cool until after the first gig in Australia, at the Enmore. After that it became as boring as fuck, not just in song choice, but in the seemingly lackadaisical performances, which I guess shouldn't come as a surpise after all of the great shows they'd played in America.

Although it'd always be nice to hear Child of the Moon.

corgi37 You know, i'd ask for We love you, sway and cocksucker blues (the latter from the B stage, with just Jagger & Keef and 2 spotlights), but you all know we'll get Waiting on a friend, sweet virginia and probably God damn Angie (or worse, Wild Horses - again!).

It's such crap.

I vividly recall the 1st time i watched the b2b video. Jagger did the internet results for St. Louis. We, the people, could vote for a tune.

And they picked Waiting on a friend?

Pfft, gimme a break.

Madafaka Fuck! I forget Stray Cat Blues!
July 27th, 2005 09:49 PM
FPM C10 Yeah, I just did that too. Kinda fun. I tried not to think about it too much and just slapped down the first things that popped into my head. Flight 505 and Two Trains were the most interesting choices I guess. And Midnight Rambler for an encore. That'll send the crowd home happy.

It would help if they would do warhorses at unexpected places. I put JJF third.

Gack! What geekiness!!!! Where's my pocket protector?

Did you see that list they were rehearsing last tour - the one they have a picture of on the website? From my birthday, no less? "I'm a Hog For You"??? GET OUT!! And what the hell is "Nutcracker Sweet"? "No Exploitation" is a good one too.

what tunes do they do in that key

Madafaka I forget Torn & Frayed too... This kind of votes aren't to me! Damn it!

Navin Except "Jumpin Jack Flash" and "Brown Sugar"
(starting and ending songs, any which order)
- Everything else from 1983 onwards:

Bits of 'Undercover' - "She was Hot/Pain of Love/Too Tough..."

Loads from 'Dirty Work' - "One Hit/Fight/Dirty/Had it/..."

Couple from 'Steel Wheels' - "Sad/Hat/..."

"Highwire" from 'Flashpoint' ...with long guitar-weaving
ending like "Street Fighting Man" from the VL Tour

Few of 'Voodoo Lounge' "Sparks/Mean/..." + "I'm Gonna Drive"

Bits of 'B2B' "Switch/Gunface/..."

Loads from the new album - "Rough Justice/..."
July 28th, 2005 07:55 AM
Monkeytonk-man I know it'll never happen, but i'd like 'em to play loads of tunes from their most recent albums - just to prove they're not a nostalgia act, they've recorded some real good rocking tunes over the last ten years or so and it would be nice to hear them played - just to show that they have faith in their newer material.

You got Me Rocking
Out Of Control
Flip the switch
Saint Of Me
I Go Wild
Don't Stop
Like A Rollin Stone
Mixed Emotions
Sad Sad Sad
Rock & A Hard Place
Sparks Will Fly
oh No Not You Again
Rough Justice

Lots of bands like to place emphasis upon their newer material when they tour. Iron Maiden virtually played every song from their latest album on the last few tours. Aerosmith - especially in Europe, play loads of stuff from the newer albums. and it sounds like U2 like to push recently recorded stuff.

The Stones only seem to throw the odd new tune in very now and again, and usually they are completely lost by the time a new tour starts - i mean what's the chance of them playing a good few tunes from Bridges on this tour - slim to none I reckon. shame, shame, shame.

Gazza the day that the album release was confirmed (tuesday) I sent in a setlist of about 22 songs, including two keith songs (comin down again/T&A), a 3-song bstage set (including 'you cant catch me' and 'back of my hand' because I heard its a blues song)..show to open with Rough Justice and Crazy Mama and close with Sympathy with Memory Motel and Midnight Rambler as the encore.

Plenty of songs from every decade, a few 'standards' and some stuff theyve never played (Time waits for no one, slave, sway) plus long lost stuff like Fingerprint File.

I thought I'd be smart and send in 3-4 of the new songs. One of them was Under The radar.

the next day they announced the album track-list and it wasnt included. Bah!

gimmekeef I'd love to see them do "Send Her To Me"....And it would be a unique idea to do 4-5 in a row from Bigger Bang perhaps even from the B stage everynight.(if its in).As far as them responding in a meaningful way to these lists we send in..well.....Santa will be here in only 5 months!
July 28th, 2005 08:53 AM
corgi37 I'd really like to hear Time waits for no one as well.

It could be Ronnie's big solo spot for the night.

But hey, why not Start me up? Dont hear that much.

I just hope Miss You is still rested. Funny to think it was THE song that got me into them, but i cannot stand it live anymore. Goes way too long.
July 28th, 2005 09:11 AM
gimmekeef Corgi...good point about the length of songs. The warhorses would seem fresher if they kept them to 4 mins like the original versions.I dont need Brown Sugar extended anymore out to 6-7 minutes....
July 28th, 2005 09:33 AM

stonedinaustralia i'm tempted to send in a list of songs from other bands i'd like to hear the stones do:

God Save the Queen (Pistols)

Station to Station (Bowie)

Legalize It (Peter Tosh)

the list could be endless

but i'm sure they'd just dismiss me as some kind of crack pot....
July 28th, 2005 07:13 PM
