Some Guy No new Stones album in years. All the new shit I've been hearing is whiny, bitchy bull. Whats up with that? Music these days just doesn't have the nuts it used to. We need a revolution!

Gimme Shelter I think that's why I was so hyped by Velvet Revolver, because like them or not they do rock. They are definately trying to keep rock alive.

Down at the Astoria the scene was changing,
Bingo and rock were pushing out X-rating,
We were the first band to vomit in the bar,
And find the distance to the stage too far,
Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'clock,
Rock is dead they say,
Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

People walk in sideways pretending that they're leaving,
We put on our makeup and work out all the lead-ins,
Jack is in the alley selling tickets made in Hong Kong,
Promoter's in the pay box wondering where the band's gone,
Back in the pub the governor stops the clock,
Rock is dead, they say,
Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

Landslide, rocks are falling,
Falling down 'round our very heads,
We tried but you were yawning,
Look again, rock is dead, rock is dead, rock is dead.

The place is really jumping to the high-watt amps,
'Til a 20-inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps,
In the blackout they dance right into the aisle,
And as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles,
Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock,
Rock is dead, they say,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive..............................

I stand beside you
I face the future
I'll admit to you
I am afraid
I am afraid
As I stand beside you
I have denied you
I am afraid

I am not drunk now
I am not pilled down
My windows wound down
I am not brainwashed
I am not running
I am not hiding
My bet's still riding
I am afraid

I swing you high-o
I swing you low-a
I see your eye-o
I see you grow-a
I hear you crying
Your brother's dying
Be no more lying
I am afraid ..............................

Make me of clay, make me of steel
But whatever you do don't try and make me real
Make me your dream, a secretive deal
But don't ever scheme to try and make me real

Stop trying to make me real
I haven't got the kind of heart a lover can steal
Stop crying, I just can't feel
Any sympathy for someone trying to make me real

Why can't you settle for a fantasy?
You're so convinced that I'm the man to see
I can't live up to
What you give up to
I fail to see, the perfect man in me

Make me from your magazine a listed ideal
Dress me in the doll's house your knickers conceal
Make me your brother-lover beau-ideal
But you will soon discover lover can't be real

Stop trying to make me real
I haven't got the kind of heart a lover can steal
Stop crying, I just can't feel
Any sympathy for someone trying to make me real

Stop trying to make me real
I haven't got the kind of heart a lover can steal
Stop crying, I just can't feel
Any sympathy for someone trying to make me real

Don't try to make me real, Oh no
I've got no sympathy
Sympathy for someone trying to make me real
Stop trying to make me real
I haven't got the kind of heart a lover can steal
Stop crying, I just can't feel
Any sympathy for someone trying to make me real..................................

Bloozehound rock died in the early 90's, the double wammy of grunge rock and punk revival wiped-out any decent remaining shreds of rock left

i gave that velvet revolver a listen, but I didn't care for it at all

Sir Stonesalot Rock and Roll is alive and well.

It's just that major lables and Clear Channel make it hard for you to find it. But it is still out there. In fact, over the past 3 years I have been witness to some of the most red hot, molten rock and roll I've ever laid eyes upon.

Seek and ye shall find.

KINGS OF LEON - rock!! In an old school way. Definately my favorite band right now. A great recomendation if your looking for a new band with a classic rock vibe.

heres some others:
JET - they've got quite a few Stonesy numbers. And plenty of Stones attitude
STEREOPHONICS - the singer has a raspy Rod Stewart voice and is best friends with Woody. What more do you need to know?
RYAN ADAMS - he opened for the Stones. His albums "Gold" and "Heartbreaker" have plenty of Exile/Beggars Stones-style tunes
WHITE STRIPES - I'm sure most folks here hate them. But Jack White's crankin the volume on the blooze in 04 the way that the Stones should be
THE BLACK KEYS - (see my White Stripes review)
NORTH MISSISSIPI ALLSTARS - Southern blues boogie people!
MY MORNING JACKET - they sound like Skynard with the singers vocals disorted with echo & reverb on 10
ROBERT BRADLEY BLACKWATER SURPRISE - not sure if theyre still around but pick up their 1st 2 records. Rock & Soul! Imagine Otis Redding fronting the Black Crowes
RICH ROBINSON - speaking of the Crowes... their guitarist - the mini-Keef - has a new record due out soon. Check out www.richrobinson.net for details
MIKE FARRIS - this singers stepped straight out of time machine from a Bad Co/Humble Pie/Faces tour. Unkown to most. But worthy of super stardom. www.farrismusic.com

hey, rock aint dead! Theres some great music out there - you just gotta seek it out cuz the mainstream is force feeding us crap. Its there. So go out and support it or it will die.
